Obama takes on Rand Paul at White House Correspondents Dinner (VIDEO)

This is why Obama is such a dangerous man. He knows how to use his charismatic comic relief to rally the support of his peers against those he opposes politically. Not only did he imply racism, but used Rand's name to imply radical conspiratorial beliefs all at the same time. Rand should really take note and use the same tactics right back at him. With a history like Obama has---it shouldn't be very difficult at all.

...

Another stupid thing about this sound bite is he points back to this as being a long time ago "haven't seen a 180 like that since ..." then points to a recent event. Since a recent event?? Not a very long period of time. Pretty stupid place in the speech to insert a dig at Rand...

Funny you should mention this. Notice how the joke is incorrectly transcribed on the HuffPo (emphasis mine):

President Barack Obama taught everyone a little lesson about racist Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy during the 2014 White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Obama was touting the success of Olympic snowboarder Jamie Anderson, who was in attendance at the dinner, saying he hadn't "seen someone pull a 180 that fast until Rand Paul disinvited that Nevada rancher from this dinner."

Thats probably what his teleprompter told him to say and he botched it. The way Huff quotes it, incorrectly, actually makes sense. What he said made very little sense.

... I didn't realize he was talking about the snowboarder.
Makes it even more stupid/nonsensical because the olympics were before the rancher thing.

Obama sounds like an idiot in this clip.
A snowboarder pulling off a 180??! WOW! ... um, since, every snowboarder can do a 180. Its more of an insult to the athlete. All the crazy awesome feats and you compliment him on a 180? Its hardly even considered a trick. We suppose to believe that Obama is a huge snowboarding fan now? Cause he like, totallllyy, knows a good 180 when he sees one!
This prez is so rad.

I think we ought to edit this video down to Obama making fun of CO and play it in a loop over and over and make it go viral.

It's good to have an intelligent president with a real sense of humor. The contrast between Mr. Obama and the stumbling mumbling knuckle walking caricature we had in Mr. Bush could not be clearer than in moments like these.

Its amazing how determined some people are to like this president.

So the basic points were to insinuate racism, and make fun of pot smokers. Talk about 180 degree turns. President Shoom now mocks marijuana.

Obama used to be a regular pot smoker and everyone knows it, maybe he still smokes it--who knows, but if he thinks he can lay all of that crap on Rand without it coming back to bite in the butt--he's wrong. The fact that he mentioned Rand's name tells a story all by itself.

Am I the only one who doesn't trust the thinkers in officialdom to counter the mainstream media and President's strategy here? I have a feeling that they'll further compound it.

This is one of those threads that should be hidden, really. What he's doing here is attacking the base (and the coming alternative media storm....oh, yes...it's coming) by way of Rand Paul in order to beg a prescribed set of questions or terms of controversy. And I sure as heck don't want the political "know it alls" in the wonderful world of PAC land to speak for me on this just to hook up with a dying mainstream. They've already relegated the terms of controversy to an American Idolesque model of sorts across the board and I fear that we'll see them attempt to "defend" Rand in a manner that is more reflective of mainstream political theater and do so by way of throwing the base under the bus. Collins demonstrated the phenomeon in hot topics with that thread of his. That's another one who shouldn't be paid to think in my opinion but it's just my opinion.

Not a big deal at all. This is just an event where people are poked fun at in what's supposed to be a "humorous" way. We should consider it a good thing that Rand keeps getting mentioned. It shows that he's a big player in Washington.

I never heard Ron Paul's policy points get their profile high enough to be correspondence dinner targets.

Heh.. Obama never mentioned Ron Paul once during 2012. Hahaha. Looks like Rand is making a lot of the higher ups in the establishment worried.
I'm not sure why y'all thought it was necessary to take a thinly-disguised shot at Ron in order to make Rand look good here (it wasn't).

That said, my comment on the video: Obama just told the worst joke since W went looking for the wmd's under the table that one year (2004, maybe?)

That man is a disgrace to pieces of shit. Two more years of him and his lame duck ass. The media just follows the que cards when they say 'laugh'... Or 'look the other way'.... Or 'roll over and play dead.'
