NV GOP Finally Reveals its delegate list

From Sue Lowden's Blog Spot, "the comments form of closed at this time." Big surprise. If I were one of these people I would feel I was taking a spot from someone who was duly elected by vote of the convention floor. Of particular interest is the comment "the individuals on this list will proudly reflect our desire to remain a 'red state'....support John McCain." My guess is these are the people who were pre-selected all along.

Nevada Delegates to GOP National Convention

I am pleased to finally make available our list of delegates and alternates to the national convention.

We have so many loyal and hardworking Republican activists and voters throughout Nevada. The individuals on this list will proudly reflect our desire to remain a “red state” this election and support John McCain in his campaign. In addition, we will be proudly traveling with a Nevada-based POW from Sparks, Bill Elander, who, like Senator McCain, spent time at the Hanoi Hilton.

There are many important issues facing Nevadans, such as our economy and jobs, the future of our health care industry, energy independence, and, of course, with our critically sensitive matters of foreign affairs.

In the end, I believe Nevadans agree that the path to prosperity now is as important as it was a quarter century ago, when Ronald Reagan advocated for peace through strength, lower taxes on our workers and businesses, and free-market principles to encourage ingenuity, economic growth, improved consumer goods and lower prices. This election, all of those same issues are up for grabs, and I believe Nevadans will help elect Senator John McCain as our next President.

The Republican delegates and alternates who will be representing Nevada at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St.Paul next month are:

Were these delegates qualified at the time of the April convention or are there new names on this list?

Sandra, Wish I could answer you question, but I don't know for sure. I think it is the original list as presented by the Nominating Committee to the convention on April 26th which was previously filtered by a questionaire filled out by the person wanting to be a delegate. It is possible, of course, that new names were added and I don't think there is a way we could know because, as I understand it, we were not given the original list. I did hear from someone on the nominating committee that privy was given to those who had made heavy donations. They are masters of stall techniques and withholding information and this list has only just been posted 3 weeks after they had made their decision. I also heard of at least one of the alternates who didn't even want her name released and raised the question with the "leadership" as she didn't want to be "harassed."
You know those rowdy Ron Paul people would make trouble for her.

Here's the logic: By March 4, John McCain had enough pledged delegates to be the GOP nominee. McCain is the guy the voters picked in primaries and caucuses across the country by a pretty big margin.

"The race for Nevada’s Electoral College votes remains close, but for the fourth time in the last five months John McCain has a slight advantage. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey shows McCain attracting 45% of the vote while Obama earns 42%." -- Rasmussen Reports, Aug 13 2008

It's unlikely an Obama v. Paul race would even be close. The polling data pretty much paints a picture.

Without the full backing of the Party leadership, McCain would have gotten no where. He is simply weak, and not popular....a "created" leader with very little to offer, imo. I think it is unfortunate that The Party has so little belief in We The People that we are not allowed full voice, the same access, same rules...you know, that silly "open tent" which is promised by the RNC in DC. Then there is the media....well, there is absolutely no denying bias towards "the chosen" and marginalization of others, such as what happened to Ron Paul. John McCain was going to drop out at one time...anyone remember that? Nevada being a microcosm of the situation shows what Party and media support can accomplish. But that is not We The People...it is them, the machine. You're a good little soldier, Cap'n Jack - Sue must appreciate all your efforts.

You should know that the national convention is the only place a delegate may cast his vote. Pledges mean nothing. Undermining the representative process so there is no convention debate does not serve anybody's interest except the people making all the decisions behind the scenes.

McCain lost Nevada.

Mcidiot did not even have the decency or concern to campaign here in Nevada, and was counting on riding the coat-tail, GOP ass-licking endorsement of sell out Romney to carry him this state.

One, but that's iffy. BKom calls it a shut out. It's still uncertain whether the RNC will seat any of the delegates, although the McCain campaign has sided with the Nevada GOP.

There seems to be one person on the list who says he or she is a RP supporter. But says he or she will vote for McCain. So, of the list appointed by the state party, it does look like a shutout.
