I was talking to someone that saw on the news about Ron Paul's announcement on the exploratory committee. The person stated that Ron Paul won't be good as a candidate because he doesn't have good stature! Unbelievable!

I told them that maybe when people vote for the things that actually matter we will get a good president in the white house.

There've been quite a few studies suggesting looks and the ability to pretend to care about petty stuff unrelated to them ("social skills") is a very significant factor in being electable. Women are relatively very fond of ultra-confident and serious-looking Mitt Romney and are something like half as likely as men to vote for goof-aloof Ron Paul.

Many people are extremely critical of unfamiliar ideas/products being sold to them, which is why, for instance, typos in Youtube videos and slim jims are always one of the first things to be pointed out. From there on, a person's perception of the idea/person/whatever is that it's flawed.

More proof most Americans consider the elections nothing more than a popularity contest.

Or, you know... typos in Facebook status updates. :D

I agree, it is really disgusting. I don't care if the candidate is purple and has a hunchback, as long as he believes in this country, the constitution, making things better, and has a good voting record.

When they are in the streets begging for breadcrumbs with no home, and no way to watch their football games, maybe, just maybe, they will think back and realize they did it to themselves and to their kids, by being complete morons and not realizing that politics is not a fucking game. It's people's lives that are at risk. That's my dream anyway.

Just look at the two Presidents at either extreme of the height spectrum - James Madison at 5'3'' and Abraham Lincoln at 6'5''. Can we really say voting for people who look "Presidential" has paid off so far?

The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter.

I hate when I hear crap like that. It almost makes me want to give up on this country...almost.
