November 5th Money Bomb!

A couple weeks ago, I started tracking donations by state. This graph does not reflect the amounts, just number of donors by state:

Total number of donors from 9/24 - 10/3: 9866

I need a picture with hundreds of student volunteers wearing Rand shirts and holding Rand signs. Does it exist yet?

can't get in the pledge page, so i'll just pledge here.

at 'least' a hundred, probaby more...

Is there anything you can do with that data to promote November 5th moneybomb? Soething that would attract people etc.?

+Rep. We'll be making T-Shirts available soon, donations will go to helping us promote the event.

Great news, the site won't let me pledge yet. But I'm in for $100. If this starts feel like 08's Money Bomb in for more. And it kinda is :)

Apologies to everyone that already joined and invited their friends to the event.

There was a problem causing some people to be locked out, and rather than wait to see if Facebook would fix it we decided to just start a new event now since it's early.

So please join and invite your friends to this new event, even if you already did before.

Are you going to delete the other event?

Are you going to delete the other event?

Not yet, to try to give as many of the 330 people going to the old event time to see the updates and join the new one.

I posted once in there, which sends a notification to all attending, and will do it again tonight or tomorrow.

I noticed that this one is more popular than last one (Constitution Day monb.). People are sharing avatar picture and are more excited about it.

Good stuff! I wish the campaign would start up an affiliate program for websites and media personalities though - would make it much easier to get people with audiences to promote it if there was something in it for them!

Ffs this better be on front page

This thread is still under construction :) I will work on in on Friday-Saturday.

I am glad that a lot more people are interested in this moneybomb than they were in previous one.

Cool. What are they? :)

I may be able to get a decent estimation of $ per donor, or at least $ per state, which would add an extra dimension to the graph above. I already have donors' cities, so it is possible to geocode in real time to a web API and/or serve to a mobile application. During the moneybomb, the color of each state on the map gets darker with increasing $$ from that state, while pins can be added to the map for each donor's city like:

The latest image can be tweeted every hour or so to promote the moneybomb.

I noticed the number of donors per state roughly aligns with the population of the state. I was interested which states had a disproportionate number of donors, so these plots below show:

(rank by population) - (rank by donor)

Population was determined by the July 1, 2014 estimate here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_population

As we see, the best states are the ones Rand has been making trips to.
