No Exit Polls Will Be Released Early

It's not because the media is trying to add drama. It's not because they're trying to suppress the fact that Ron Paul is doing well. Or any other silly reason...

It's simply because releasing results early affects voting patterns. A couple times in the past there have been exit polls leaked early in American elections and it has been a debacle. The media is going through unprecedented efforts this year to prevent any leaks whatsoever.

So, please, don't expect any results before 8pm. Let this be the LAST thread on this... thanks.

bump.... because some people here still don't get it.

What causes anybody to think that actual voting results might be released before the polls are closed is beyond me....

Absolutely... remember the early releases when polls were still open in Florida during the presidential election in 2000? It's best that they not release anything unless every registered voter at a precinct has voted or the polls have closed.

I awoke to find a couple of threads going on about "where are the results, why aren't they televising the vote, etc" and it was obvious some poor souls had been awake all night, and by dawn had concluded this was another example of the great conspiracy to control the world.

You simply cannot explain to these people that official vote totals come only when the polls close. They know the whole world is against them, so they will not hear you or will denounce you as a CFR plant.

Another thread just started claiming that the Dept of Defense is manipulating the weather, and that today's good weather in New Hampshire actually is part of this conspiracy against Ron Paul's campaign.

I suggest a Tin Foil Hat medal be awarded to these, our mentally challenged brothers, for they have rights too you know.

You're joking, right?

Thge media doesn't give a rat's ass about having an effect on the polls- in fact, it is what they do. Nonsense.

so why did iowa release ENTRANCE polls? that makes no sense!!!

Because Iowa has caucuses. Once everyone is in, the entrance polls cannot affect the voting. No one will see them in the caucus, only the people who aren't participating will see them.

From what I hear this is a New Hampshire rule. Dont want to let anything affect uncast ballots.

In my opinion its a very cool rule.

Incorrect. The entrance poll was not released until they began releasing real results.

And to rockwell, this thread's token conspiracy theorist... the media was greatly embarrassed by the early release of exit polls in 2004. It's not a surprise that they're going through huge efforts to keep them from leaking. In fact, I remember a debate in 2006 of whether to have exit polls at ALL, just because there was a chance of a leak.

Because in Iowa they closed the doors to the caucus and no one could enter after that. In NH voters can go and vote until evening and thus be affected by early entrance polls.
