No Commercials For California?

I just returned home from canvassing my precinct. The older people have no idea who Ron Paul is and its due to the media blackout and lack of commercials in this state, but as soon as I tell them his stance on the war, immigration, etc, they become immediately interested. I called the campaign and talked to Nina to find out if they were going to run any commercials here in California and she said she didn't think so, but she wasn't positive. Without commercials the older generation will have no idea who Ron Paul is when it comes time to vote! I think its a big mistake to ignore california as we have massive support from the younger generation here. We need to figure out how we are going to get Ron Pauls name out there since HQ might ignore California.

Well I suggest you find 4-8 million then to cover the cost of the commercials.

Perhaps the back of the couch?

I am hoping she is uninformed, but if not, its a very big mistake IMO! They should be running TV ads all day in California and elsewhere if possible!

I don't know where people come up with these numbers, but Hillary Clinton has been running ads in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Utah for about 1.6 million and I have seen them twice in California eventhough I don't watch much Television. A massive ad campaign in California would cost about 4 million, but I don't think they really need a massive ad campaign.

Ads are expensive. I hope you told the people you canvassed about the debate tonight! They'll find out plenty about RP that way.

I just seen an obama ad on TV as I was reading your post. I agree they are expensive, but we have to get the word out to older voters. Our meetup raised money for a newspaper ad, but I am afraid that might not be enough. I would hope they would at least advertise as much as Hillary Clinton, and it seems she is getting a fair amount of ads out there for about 1.6 million, and they are running in multiple states.

The main response to Ron Paul was "Who"? I am going to try a different approach if I have time, I am going to canvass another area first with literature drops and then go back a few days later and see what the response it. It should be interesting.

Maybe call the campaign and state that we will organize an emergency money bomb to raise 1 million IF they will gurantee ads for California. He can pick up a bunch of delegates there, IMHO.

The RP campaign issued a press release a couple weesk ago saying they were running radio ads in California.

OC supporters write to the OC Register

Start a chip-in for local newspaper ads...they are affective...old people read newspapers!!

If anyone lives in Orange County (I used to) - write a letter for the opinion section of the OC Register - if you don't already know this a very libertarian, well circulated newspaper with quite a history in OC that is favorable to Ron as 'the only candidate in either party who comes close to advocating the core libertarian philosophy at the Register.'

..."if anyone has a hankering to write a letter on the propositions or about your favorite candidate, write us soon at letters(at)ocregister.com."

CA is probably one of the most important state for this campaign. We need to air lots of ads down here. How about buying a superbowl commercial just for the state of California? Could that be arranged?
