We shouldn't be forming coalitions and allying ourselves with people like Mamdani would want to ban all guns.
Who is this "we" you're talking about? I wouldn't ally myself with Nick Fuentes because he's an admitted racist and in my book that makes him
worse than a gun grabber. And you're missing the point altogether. "We" (as in people on this forum) tend judge people by their political affiliations meanwhile people who seem to be on "our" side will turn around and ally themselves with the very people "we" are supposed to hate. I don't live in New York so I really don't give a crap who the mayor is and unless you live in New York there's no reason for you or anyone else who doesn't live in New York to be so animated about the mayor's race. Seriously, politics in general is a joke. Every day the evidence proves more and more that
@PAF and
@CCTelander and a few others are the only ones who consistently make logical sense. Once you decided to vote you have made a concious choice to "ally" yourself with somebody who most likely has a horrible position on something. Maybe they're pro gun but also pro intervensionism. Maybe they're anti immigrant (if that's your thing) but pro H1B visa.
But since you brought up gun control, I'll address that. Mamdani's position on gun control, "We need to ban all guns", is only worse that Cuomo's, ban assault rifes and high capacity magazines, in its degree of honesty. Remember Kamala Harris saying "I don't want to take ban all guns. I own a Glock?" She conveniently left out that hand guns (Glock is currently the most poular) account for the vast majority of homicides include most mass shootings. California just banned her model of Glock because it's "readily convertible to a machine gun" only somebody has already made a new auto seer for it. Whoopi Goldberg also said the same thing Rand Paul. "I own a Glock. But they're using fully automatics in these school shootings." Rand (who has more patience than I do) tried to explain to her that an AR15 is no more fully automatic than her Glock.
Ultimately the drip drip of "reasonable gun control" gets to the same place of "ban all guns" rhetoric. So cut out the pretense. Have a real debate. Make the "I just want the government to ban guns other than the kind I own" crowd have to face the reality of what their supporting and see if they still support it.
