NEWSPAPER AD: last minute push: You in or out??

We can definitely get 5000 photos of people. I know a bunch of people who would love to have their picture in the Ron Paul mosiac.

RonPaulBanners.com has announced a billboard project:

Check http://www.ronpaulbanners.com/2007/07/30/world-record-paul-banner-banner-photo-mosaic-of-you/

Aiming for 5000 unique photos by November. They're planning to use the Online Rally photos of course. Hopefully we can have 5k photos by then.

Personally, I'm not sure how well these 200x200 photos can work on a billboard, but I guess they have a plan...

T-Shirts and Posters are the obvious next steps...

Great idea.

OKAY.. HERE IS THE WEB VERSION: this is 72DPI --- 11 X 22 --->
I will upload this to raz's server now too.

RAZ --> I will upload "DIFFERENT" ones onto your server, why? Well, its says "ames" on there. If we want to make it generic --> then we should put something different there a more "univerals usage" --- give me till after saturday for that.. just remind me... ok. I want to make the "big" file available for all usages... print, newspaper etc...

HERE IS THE 72DPI FULL VERSION: the newspaper is 300dpi
(I will removing this link, because of server loads - in a day.)

Feel free to abuse my server with all the load you like, I got bandwidth to spare. (1,200 GB/Month included)

BTW, I've added an option for uploaders to specify their military branch if in the military, and am also encouraging them to upload photos of themselves in uniform.

So if we were to get 100 or more of them, we might be able to make a smaller mosaic image out of it, that I think would also be powerful.

Would be great if we could get the idea rolling by circulating this info (along with the first ad) in the military amongst those who already support Dr. Paul.

Anybody have contacts to get this started? Worth a post on Daily Paul?

The ad image on the front page of the RPM site now links to a much much bigger version just uploaded by Xar

Other ways to quickly get more photos would be:

1) Get the official campaign to link to us from RonPaul2008.com, myspace, facebook, and meetup.

2) Get the official campaign to send out an "upload your photo please" in an email newsletter.

3) Get the rally.ronpaulplanet.org, ronpaulmosaic.com, and the Ad image featured on Wikipedia page for Ron Paul's campaign, and possibly for Ron Paul himself.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Paul_presidential_campaign,_2008
I'm loathe to do it myself, because every time I try to put anything on wikipedia, they just remove it, so I suggested the rally site on the "Talk" page about a week ago, and nothing has happened. I guess its not "worthy".

4) Contact all the meetup groups. I think this is harder than it sounds, as Jennifer Reynolds can attest.

5) Get an "upload your photo" plea into other newsletters that go out to liberty-loving folks. ( eg, DownSize DC )

6) Popularize the web-widgets. It doesn't seem like these are being used much, so maybe they need some tweaking.

7) A press release. I already had one written, that I was planning to use when we hit 1500 or 2k. But it may be better to re-draft it to focus on this Ad. And a press-release is not very focused at our target group: potential supporters/uploaders.

I'm not sure the campaign wants to be involved with us. I've already been in touch with Jesse Benton, and didn't get much of a response. Maybe this ad will change their minds? Or maybe we (and they) are better off if we continue without any official acknowledgement. So that wipes out 1 and 2.

Okay, so that's just a brain dump of my marketing thoughts for getting to the next level, photos-wise. or maybe this Ad will be so popular it feeds itself. :-)

Any comments? ( Perhaps this should be a new thread )

The official campaign is not allowed to help in this AT ALL.. Sorry, it's against the law...

I don't believe it is against the law to link to other websites. They certainly link to YouTube, MySpace, Meetup, etc, etc. These are "social networking" sites, and so is the Online Rally, in its fashion.

And if you want to take it a step further, their official myspace page has links to, and content from, Ron Paul supporters. I don't see the distinction.

But anyway, I don't expect them to help out, so I guess that leaves the other possibilities, or continue at the current rate...

Xar, can you upload the 300dpi version, someone in another thread was looking for a higher res for printing.

Is that the 100 meg version?

yeah.. I uploaded the 72dpi jpg for regular web stuff.... the 140dpi jpg for flyers and what not...

I can upload the 100meg, but it will take a while so I want to initiate that when I go to bed cause it will slow my syste a bit..

I think we might be good with the 140dpi version then, don't worry about loading the 100meg one unless someone really needs it.
