News of Second Banner?

thanks for posting that. I would of missed it with all the methanol gas bag going on today

Those of you who are ignoring Menthol Patch might have missed this possible news of the second banner in one of his threads:

Great find!!!!!! :D

Here is the post Grue is talking about....it was made @ 2:40pm Dec 13

.........I'm in a van right now leaving Amherst, Mass with the REVOLution banner in hand. There is at least six inches of snow on the ground so far and they're calling for at least twelve before this storm passes through.

As a full-time balloon and airship pilot, it is my professional and objective opinion that the Skyship needs to stay in the southern states. Boston is unrealistic with this weather and the blimp wouldn't even be able to make it there in time.

:)

Judging by the Drive time they should be getting to
NC about 5am eastern. Hopefully we get some updates every now and then.

Ok, I suppose I'll take over this thread. We just passed through Hartford and are making headway through some snarled traffic on 84 West. Updates soon.

You guys should head down Interstate 91 to the I-95 and the coast in Connecticut - We only have about 2 inches here in Milford, just outside of New Haven... But if you've already commited to I-84, cut down 684 in Brewster, New York to I-95 to hug the coast line.

I wonder how long it takes to move the blimp from the hanger. I assume theres a 5 minute hold time after winds peak above 7mph. Like a 'lightning within 5' type of system for making sure everything is ok before committing to moving the blimp.

Yeah, we're committed to 84 - 684--287--GSP--Njtpk--95south

Just got out of the second major traffic holocaust and there is still lots of snow that hasn't been removed from the highway yet. We're keeping up a steady 30mph now.

USA HOT AIR, I make that EXACT drive all the time...TAKE route 13 south...not 95 all the way down! In Delaware get on route 1, and then 13...much quicker no traffic many places to stop and it takes you right where you need to be, not some roundabout way.

Thanks for the suggestion. 13 looks like a strong possibility. Can you convince me securely that it would save time over taking 95? Time is obviously of the most importance.

I have done this drive 20 times at least, 13 is direct and shorter mileage wise. Do the speed limit on the Chesapeake Bridge Tunnel because of heavy policing there, but otherwise 95 is very subject to delays, and it is longer by about 100 miles. Trust me on this one, I have the experience that counts. Just make sure to get on rt. 1 first in Delaware, that makes the drive much shorter. If you notice rt. 1 parallels 13 for a good ways, then you get onto 13 again. 13 is also nice because of the number of gas stations and places to eat and stop and stretch. 95 has none of that outside of NJ. I would also have had you avoid the George Washington Bridge as well, take the Merritt/Wilbur Cross PKWY to the Tapenzee and miss the whole city, you just need to cross NJ a little later down the road to go from the Garden State to the NJ t'Pike. I have gone that exact route from Hartford to E. City in 9 hours.

lol we should get a GPS for tracking the banner! This is really exciting. I wish I was in that car coming down to NC! I love road trips especially the route planning part. Would be nice to follow along on the map!

Are you sure the 2ndary roads will be as clear in the conditions as 95?

Maybe a little worse, but the decrease in traffic will be worth it, coupled with the shorter distance. The snow won't be much below Delaware anyways. I have made this drive after a large winter storm as well.
