News of Second Banner?

We're now just crossing into the VA portion of that Delmarva thingamabob. About 100 miles to No'folk.

Although my opinion doesn't count for very much in this grand venture, I think the airship should have the second banner installed this morning before making any attempt to leave the hangar (last I heard that was going to be at 6am). Two reasons: One, well, selfishly, I'd love to see both banners I helped make in their full glory on the blimp. Two, the winds are forecast to actually die down slightly as the day goes on. Of course, being on the Atlantic Ocean introduces local sea breezes that may negate the forecast completely. However, I'd be real motivated to keep the blimp hangared until the second banner can be installed.

Katharine, let Trevor or Elijah know this info so they can talk over the rollout decision with the AMS pilot(s)/crew... I'm not in a position to influence any critical decisions from this van. We'll likely be there around 7:30ish given no more transit hiccups.

HotAir, since you'll be there in person, I implore you to convince whomever you can to wait until the second banner is on. The consequences of sending a blimp out half-completed will be dire. No one's going to miss it. It's a blimp. That's the point.

Also, keep safe!

Hey why aren't you flying it to Iowa or NH?

You guys not in the northeast have no idea how crazy Hartford was to get through in one piece. A normally 1:15 drive turned into more than a SIX hour expedition! We sat in the ssme spot for over an houe beford resuming creeping slowly ahead. Semi's jackknifed all over both sides of the road, cars abandoned in the middle lane of Rt. 91, in ditches, etc. Must have been about ten semi's and two dozen cars that I counted. Worst traffic I've ever experienced!

So, without Hartford, we'd have been there at least an hour ago. Bleh.

STFU, this is the guy delivering the banner to the blimp, not the freaking pilot.
The blimp is not going to Iowa, get over it.

Well if he is delivering it to them personally then maybe he know why they aren't flying up there

Flying to Iowa covers a vast, time consuming, money wasting landscape of nothingness, the east coast was the plan all along as far as I know.

BTW The Carolina Panthers have a home game on the 16th.

The blimp is scheduled to exit the hangar before we arrive. I can't do anything more than make the suggestion from here. It may not even be considered, which I would still fully appreciate. Whatever the folks down there think is best is what will happen. I am essentially uninvolved.

Driving thru Hartford on a clear day is a nightmare so I can imagine what you had to get thru tonight. Thanks for moving forward towards destiny!

....Iowa have cities does it not?

I have a feeling your just taking this position because you don't want to admit this is a screw up. It's ok if you feel that way.

What is more important...a Carolina Panthers game or an Iowan city?

Launch is 8:30 am according to their site, I'm guessing you have less than 200 miles to go, so there is still hope.

*facepalm*

Obviously coverage on any NFL broadcast is more important than an Iowan city flyover.

If we don't win in Iowa or NH then SC won't matter.

Anyways, it will be a 30 second fill in

"Oh look at the Ron Paul blimp...now back to the game"

so disappointing. I looked at the weather links and noticed too that the winds are forecast to calm. Thats because high pressure is building in Friday behind the front that went through tonight. It is supposed to have above average temps. Not sure what the ocean temp is there but living in FL all my life I can tell you that the sea breeze is completely unpredictable. The only way to get an idea of what the wind is doing locally on a calm day is to compare the ocean temp to the land temp.

Looks like if they don't launch by 3pm then they could be delayed for days if not a week. I can understand not taking that risk, but then why send you guys down in blizzard like conditions.

They need to wait it out for as long as they can even though it appears the decision is made, they need to wait until at least you guys get there before rolling out the blimp.

Fuck you, SC will matter, as will Nevada and all the other states, and the NFL is seen by a lot more folks than people looking up in Iowa, go troll somewhere else I'm sick of your negativity.

SC won't matter unless we win Iowa or NH...you're having trouble getting over this fact so maybe if I say it again you will actually comprehend the meaning. These are going to be the first people voting..RP needs to come out strong in the beginning or else he will be lost only weeks into the primaries.

It has to come out of the hangar first. We'll see what happens, but I'm going to venture a guess that it's probably going to proceed as planned (one banner).

Whatever the case may be, it's my turn to drive the last leg into Weeksville, so this'll be my last post for a while, and highly likely will be my last until the morning's activities are finished. Stay tuned for blimp history in any case!
