Newark Mayor Cory Booker preparing to live a week on food stamps

To air and deny this way around.

Edit: You know what, I'm leaving it. As a warning to not sleep post. Lol.

I meant to say something about foodstamps being $200 for one person.

This is playing with fire.

Sounds a lot like just a little drugs just to see what it is like.

Could be he's going to pick-up cans or steal copper from abandoned homes?

,

You reminded me of this story from yesterday. One of the comments in particular.

Collect old art.

Over the last 3,500 years the petroglyphs adorning the rock faces in the eastern Sierras have withstood, flood, fire, and earthquake, but they were no match for asshat thieves with rocksaws and power hammers

With comments like;

"I think you would see more and more of this as wealth disparity creates more rich guys with money to burn on novelty items and many more poor guys with nothing to lose."

This sounds similar to the uberlib Chicago mayor back in the early 80's who attempted to live in the Cabrini-Green housing project to show that government housing was perfectly good and safe.

From Wikipedia:

In an effort to demonstrate a commitment to making the complex safer, then-Chicago Mayor Jane Byrne moved into a fourth-floor apartment with her husband in 1981.[12] Backed by a number of police officers and a substantial personal bodyguard detail, she stayed for only three weeks. This incident, too, contributed to public perception of Cabrini–Green as the worst of the worst of public housing. As a security measure, the rear entryway of the unit Byrne stayed in was welded shut. This had the unforeseen impact of creating a fortification for gang members when Byrne left. Many other gangs copied this technique in other units.

I remember this, as I was living up there then, the local radio hosts ragged her hard..

That is hilarious.

Hipsters on Food Stampes:
Magida, a 30-year-old art school graduate, had been installing museum exhibits for a living until the recession caused arts funding — and her usual gigs — to dry up. She applied for food stamps last summer, and since then she’s used her $150 in monthly benefits for things like fresh produce, raw honey and fresh-squeezed juices from markets near her house in the neighborhood of Hampden, and soy meat alternatives and gourmet ice cream from a Whole Foods a few miles away.

“I’m eating better than I ever have before,” she told me. “Even with food stamps, it’s not like I’m living large, but it helps.

Hahahahahahahahaha, that is awesome

food stamps are $100 a month per person, its not that difficult if they are talking ramon noodles and water.

The average is $133 per person.

I have a family of 3 and 2 dogs. My wife is a vegetarian and I am not. In other words we often eat different meals. Since I do it anyway, with my own money, I'd have no problem matching that monthly total per person, including food for the dogs.

U.S.A. Only place on Earth where homeless and poor people are the fattest social economic group of the culture.
