New Rasmussen National Poll

Most likely, he's still within the margin of error of the last poll. It could easily be due to statistical noise.

I'm betting it is demographics, particularly regional demographics. The deep south is more knee jerk security hawk and manipulatable by neocons. However, it is what it is, dammit. I'm sure it's within the boundaries of what is allowable, it is just that those boundaries still permit gamesmanship to a certain extent.

Yet Ron Paul is the most electable. Romney trails Obama by 3, Perry by 7, Bachmann by double digits. Paul is down by only 1.

If you want to see these figures rise, focus your anger on the Phone from Home project (just don't sound angry on the phone!)

Can we not make a drama out of this poll? It's another poll. Note it for what it is and move on. The world isn't ending.

We've been getting a negative round of polling recently save one poll (which was in fact lower than the previous poll from the same company (Gallup)), we should at least use this information while it's still early in the campaign and imo that means making a change in messaging. That doesn't have to include any drama

I don't believe this crap for a second. Here are the current Facebook likes:

Mitt Romney - 1,116,168 - 42.4%
Ron Paul - 516,216 - 19.6%
Michele Bachman - 462,126 - 17.6%
Herman Cain - 178,347 - 6.8%
Rick Perry - 162,773 - 6.2%
Newt Gringich - 148,193 - 5.6%
Rick Santorum - 28,015 - 1.1%
Jon Huntsman - 18,120 - 0.7%

The clear true frontrunners, at least according to what users of Facebook like, are Romney, Paul, and Bachmann. IMHO this is a better indicator of the general population than these stupid polls with obscure guidelines.

can someone tell me what % of voters are over 60 in the general elections?

Yes, I think Facebook is a great indicator of what the older and much larger voting block is thinking. Oh, wait, most of them aren't on Facebook. Nevermind.

May I suggest we stop reassuring ourselves with Facebook "Likes" and start reassuring older voters by kindly and patiently educating them about Ron Paul through the Ron Paul phone bank? Old people may not have Facebook, but they sure do have phones. Let's all make some calls and sweet talk our way to the White House!

Additional information from this survey and a full demographic breakdown are available to Platinum Members only.

So you have to pay them to try to keep them honest? Don't honest pollster live and die by disclosing the full demographic information to show their meticulousness and sampling methods?

I bet they asked 1000 retired couples from Gingrich's old district who were home watching FoxNews in the middle of the day.

Obviously this is affecting voters because they're too damn scared of the word "terrorist" that they don't look past the label and shut off.

However, in order to understand from the opposing viewpoint, it is necessary to quote the promoters of that viewpoint to your audience.
And do you believe we went to war because they hate us for our freedoms as GW said?

I think Rasmussen might do this every Presidential election cycle since they know so many people are looking at their polls during this time period. Kind of a smart business plan if you ask me.
