New info on Senator Tom Davis endorsement

I noticed that's also where the debate is, so I guess this isn't a guarantee...

They're both at the same hotel at the same time. The local RP group (MB for RP) confirmed it at their facebook page:

Correct, but the debate starts an hour later at the same hotel. All the candidates will probably be there by 6. That's why I said it's no guarantee. Odds are still very high though.

Huh? I thought the debate was Monday, and tomorrow is Sunday...

Just looked it up and you are correct, sir.

edit: However, if you're a media pundit you could take Sunday out and it would be tomorrow.

Ah, yes, I see that now. The debate is on Monday. That sure bumps the odds way up that this is an endorsement for Ron, doesn't it? :)

Dont get me wrong guys but if he endorses someone else I might go on a spree of giving people negative rep for all false hopes :D

Endorsements are fine anything - and major thanks if he does endorse... but how much pull does a state senator have? Much at all?

Nobody promised you a rose garden. :D This is all conjecture, but there's some pretty good sleuthing involved. Odds are good, but there's no guarantee. So you can't get double your money back. :)

I would guess that probably not much outside the state, but it could be pretty significant inside, especially if he has any positions that get him statewide news coverage.

I get so tired of all the talk about endorsements. If people can't make up their minds on what candidate has the values they want in a president and base their vote on how others vote shouldn't be voting in the first place.

I think the benefit of endorsements is that, for voters who are leaning toward a certain candidate, the endorsement of that candidate by an individual the voter respects can act as a confirmation of their inclination to support that candidate.

So, maybe endorsements are less about creating new support so much as they're about solidifying any support that is currently soft.

He Is the second most influential politician in SC, tea party guy. His endorsement was deemed more influential than gov. Nicki Haley's in a poll, just behind demint. He's a popular up-and-comer in the state, and will hopefully rid lyndsey graham from the senate in 2014.

Davis is a bit of a big fish in a small pond. His endorsement may not mean much to most of the country, but in the context of the S.C. primary, it's definitely a plus.

Dude make sure he makes the case that Ron IS electable during his endorsement. If Ron does it for himself people might not believe it. BUT if one of their HIGHLY REGARDED SENATOR tells them that RON IS ELECTABLE (maybe cites a poll as well)... BAAM that will get through to people. Someone in the know please tell him this. That will REALLY help, apart from the endorsement in general!

LOL. Just add some zeroes to the end of Huntsman 3% haul in SC and he'll have won it handily.

He'd have to be the cruelest SOB ever to endorse anyone besides Ron with the way he's been teasing

Someone please tweet Davis and ask him to emphasize the electability argument!

Does anybody remember a few months ago someone connected to the Ron Paul campaign said there would be a "major announcement that would rock the political establishment" at an SC rally and we were all waiting for it and nothing ever happened?

I'm thinking Tom Davis planned to endorse Ron Paul months ago, but decided that a few days before the primary would have a bigger impact.

@senatortomdavis Whoever you're endorsing, please cite poll data to show he's really electable, since that's #1. http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2012/01/09/cbs-poll-independents-prefer-ron-paul-vs-obama/ :)

@AgoristDon

(But I'm not really "in the know" we just follow each other on Twitter. :) )
