I think we also have to look at the fact that Ron ran in the last two elections obviously gaining the most support from young people. So in essence if Rand is able to hang onto most of these folks there has to be a huge number of people out there in the 18 to 35 year old old range for Rand to pull from. Add this with the fact that he does much better with the older demographic than Ron did plus the amount of elderly party die hards that are no longer with us (not saying that's good i wish harm on no one), but you really gotta like Rand's chances. And its obviously why they're using Carson and Cruz to peel away as much support as possible. Which is why i saw Glen Beck shooting a load in his pants when Michelle Malkin saying she supports him at this point.. He was like ahhhh say that again. Ole Glen talks the talk but we all know he sure as hell don't walk the walk..

All, everyone knows about Scott Walker is that he fought the unions, but he really has not been pressed on all sorts of issues and really has no platform to speak of at this time. THe only thing people know him for is right to work. SO he will be looked at more favorably.

His stance on immigration is Jeb Bush like which many republicans won't like and he might have other issues as well: http://www.breitbart.com/big-govern...ems-much-bigger-than-ousted-pro-amnesty-aide/

I do think he will be a tougher opponent than Bush.

Is it confirmed that Ted Cruz is running? I think he takes the most votes from Rand.

Unions are a damn good reason to support someone in this age of progressivism. He's also been pretty favorably to outlets such as Cato and Heritage. I know he isn't one of us, but let's not act like he's 100 percent awful

I had pointed out months ago that Walker was by a good margin the strongest challenger that Paul would have to face in the primary.

You may be absolutely correct, but I will predict that Walker will finish lower than second place in the primary delegate count.

I got a warm fuzzy feeling when I saw Rand with an 11% deficit against Mrs. Clinton. Wasn't an 11% deficit Rand's initial polling against Trey Greyson? :D

Rand really needs to just have a sitdown with Ted and say listen, we're 85-90% the same, we're the only two constitutional conservatives running. I actually have a shot at this, you have no path to either the nomination or the general win.

It had to have already happened. There is no way Cruz can't see it. Rand probably didn't mention he'll be taking a good chunk of his staff along the way though ;-). This probably got Cruz tight and that's why we're here right now for almost 6 months nail and tooth trying to figure out if Ted is going to run or not. I think Rand needs to have another sit down with him before or right after the next Senate recess.

I think Cruz is a smart guy and will eventually come around to this, but the guy is an incredible narcissist it's hard to say. Rand may need to promise him something, and it absolutely cannot be VP. Maybe time to call in one of those favors with Mitch in the Senate. Ted knows he ain't taking votes away from Jeb, and isn't taking many from Walker. He knows full well if he gets 4-5% of the vote in Iowa that could damn well cost Rand the primary.

So with Paul performing best against Hillary I assume Paul had a little CPAC bump and Clinton a little scandal "inverse bump"?

CPAC doesn't get that much attention. Sure, some mentions and the talking heads spin it how they will. Rand has a media presence of his own creation. He proactively makes headlines for himself and seeks out the camera. That more than any single event or poll is getting his name, image, and policies in front of millions of Americans. That will raise his poll numbers more than one event at this point in time.

Another poll showing Rand leading with Independents. It's good that the first three states allow Independents to vote in the GOP primary but it will be a problem afterwards if they can't convince Independents to register Republican in closed states.

I think Rand needs to make a hard push for independents in Iowa. That's what we did in Jefferson county for Ron and he won twice. Just saying.

I told you guys over a year ago that this is exactly where we would be on March 19, 2015 at 7:34 PM CST

If you were 100% right, do you think we will have won 1st place in 2 states by that time 365 days later?

Hillary has completely ignored Rand. At what point would she begin to engage? And what would be her approach?

Hillary has completely ignored Rand. At what point would she begin to engage?

When Rand becomes the clear frontrunner - otherwise she'll ignore him and pray to God (or Baal or whatever she prays to) that he won't become the frontrunner.

And what would be her approach?

PC garbage I expect - sexist, racist, etc

These numbers pop out at me the most:

Among Republicans: Bush 22, Walker 12, Paul 7

Among Independents: Paul 17, Walker 15, Bush 10

I think one reason Rand did pretty well in this poll could be because it included Republican-leaning independents. Great news for the general. But Rand has to either just overwhelm with the independents or he needs to start doing better among Republicans.

Independents can vote in the NH primary. Ron also did great in eastern Iowa where the independents tend to be.
