New CBS/New York Times Poll: Rand in fifth place with 4%

At least one person who actually read the polls. I am wondering why the campaign does not contact Hannity and MSNBC to complain? Why do we have to do that? I mean, sure it is nice for the grassroots to be active, but what the heck is the campaign doing to correct these things?

Sometimes Chip or Vincent Harris tweets things like this, but it is not something Rand himself should be complaining about. Many cases of "black out" over the last few years turned out to be unintentional, it is not a good idea for even the grassroots to complain about those, because it lessens the impact in apparently blatant cases like this one.

Keyword people, McConnell. McConnell connection may have more pull than what is being advertised. Rand may have a card or two left up his sleeve, Rand has been slow playing his hand. I'm going to be patient and see if January tides bring a Rand surprise before us.

One of Rand's greatest assets in a brokered convention is that is he NOT one of the other possible choices. Practically everyone in the DC GOP absolutely hates Cruz and Trump. They'll never go with Carson because too big of a risk. Unfortunately though, I think they would choose Rubio over Rand. McConnell might help, but if he does he had better keep his influence behind closed doors because McConnell is toxic to the base.

At one point before 2015, I thought that maybe there could be a chance of the crafting of a ticket with Rubio and Rand, just so the beltway could try to please both the establishment and Tea Party base. And I came to this opinion because I thought there would be a 3-way race for the nomination between Rand, Rubio and Christie.

You tried your best. No one saw this manner of craziness coming.

Too soon to give up on that particular prediction, in this crazy year. Wait and see!

Sooner or later people will wake up and realize that Trump, Carson, and Cruz are all unelectable in the General. Christie is the establishment pol most like Trump in temperament (the “brash, uncouth and non-PC truth-teller”) and thus best-positioned to inherit his acolytes. Rubio is the fair-haired Kennedy-esque figure. And Rand is the one with the brains.

I’ve said for a long time that the rules imposed at the 2012 convention make it much more likely for no one candidate to achieve the hurdle of getting the majority of eight states’ delegates required to have his name placed in nomination, with the result being a brokered convention. That actually gives Rand a real shot!
