Nevada Residents: Burning Man is coming, great chance to spread RP material

Hmm, I heard it was sold out this year? My roommate is up there promoting Zeitgeist with a couple dozen other local Zeitgeist activists.

Burning Man was REALLY cool about 8-10+ years ago..

Everybody who goes now says it's really fun, but it is not the same as it was. There are a lot of undercover cops and it is a lot bigger.

I always want to go, but I keep thinking that eventually it is going to reach a tipping point and not be so fun or cool that next year.

Everything was really cool 10+ years ago, that's because it's really cool to say that one went then and went recently and that it's not the same and that the majority of the people that one speaks to that goes now or thinks about going in the future will never experience the epic coolness that the story teller experienced.

Ya I always try and factor that in, but I've gotten a lot of first hand experiences from people over the last ten years.

People used to bring tons of drugs and share them with everyone who wanted them. Now there are narcs everywhere. People NEVER used money to barter back then, now I guess sometimes people do tho it is frowned on.

Napoleon, I haven't been here long enough to know you, but might I suggest you write ONE post instead of TEN. To address your issue and others, I was at Burning 5yrs ago, yes, there are some "strange" people there, but it was one of the coolest times I've ever had, and I almost guarantee I could get several new Ron Paul supporters easy, it's estimated 20% or less actually vote, that's 80% of the pop out there who might vote for Ron if they weren't so dis-enchanted with the gov't. You speak of "likely Republicans", 6mnths ago I was not one, but I registered so I can vote for RP in the primaries, I don't care what someone's political past or lack thereof is, a vote is a vote.

If most Republican likely voters are older, then it seems to me that increasing the amount of young people in the Republican Party can be as effective or more effective in some areas if it takes less time to convert a younger person to vote for RP than an older person who will never convert.

Exactly! Why not focus on changing the party from the ground up? And why can't this involve converting people that voted for Obama? I have already done this with 3 of my friends. My area is very liberal, so by showing them Ron is the true 'peace candidate' you can convert them on just that topic most of the time.

What they're wearing, where they are from (country/state, nothing too specific), different art installations you've seen, what's going on that evening, the trip out... all kinds of topics, just nothing too personal. Just small talk.

I figured out it was an escape for people, like a masquerade ball - they live their 'normal' life every other week of the year, and this is where they went to get their 'freak on' and not be known. Whenever you try to bring their 'real' life into it - they would end the conversation and move on.

Changing the party and achieving electoral victory are not necessarily one in the same.

Glad to have you on board. But statically there are not enough of people like you to win the primary. The standard conservative Republicans are the only chance of Ron Paul attaining the GOP nomination.

I think you'd have better success in pure numbers if you got a republican voter list and walked some of the well off parts of cities handing out literature. One wealthy donor could easily drop $2500-5000 to the campaign and not even blink. The people at the burning man probably won't be donors or even show up to vote on primary day.

I agree with him that it sucks to be out in a great place like that, and then start talking about work or school the whole time, what you're trying to get away from. Some people really enjoy what they do, but if you ask someone who is trying to escape that it would kind of suck.

burning man can be great. Is Rick Perry there? Is Michelle Bachmann? Fuck no. The people there should be half ours at least.
Open up a Ron Paul free beer or free fiat money booth? Get everyone spray painted in gold and go for it.

I personally am interested in if they have this year a free HOW TO LICK A CLIT booth. I hope so.
