People who run for office/election promoting war should be doomed before they start. No one should vote for a candidate that proposes a war with anyone. That's what elections are for, to vote for candidates that are skilled diplomats. War is a last resort of failed diplomacy. Rubio, you have been chopped. Romney on the third day of the RNC should be a resolution expelling him out of the Republican party and opening the floor for nominations for president. I said it, pues.

We are never going to come out with any positive from all this crap. Only people that are going to get benefit from this junk are a few contractors and defense firms, and the politicians that know exactly when and where to invest due to it. The rest of use are screwed with the tab.
I'd be surprised if there wasn't even enough oil value in those places to recoup our losses, if it would all float right out of the ground and flew itself no charge to a Mississippi refinery.
It's got jack all to do with macroeconomics, stable trade or american economic interests.
All this "global economy", "american special role", defending democracy, wmd's, wmd armsraces, radicalism, stable international trade crap, and every other thrown-out argument is just bathering over a thin penny worth of substance while ignoring the trillions-debt pound.
We'll burn ourselves out long before any global domination, and only the few will come out in the black from it all. There won't be and domination at all. More like stagnation.
In a way, I suppose Rubio is right. We probably should prepare for he has planned. Seeing how situations aren't changing as fast as we'd all like to see.

yup. and i bet he will be Romney's pick as VP, as he will also try to pick up votes with the conservative Hispanic community. there were quite a few Black conservatives (or should i say liberal neoconservatives?) who voted for Obama that I know of. could work in the reverse.

Sounds good in theory but shouldn't the Vietnam war been the wake up call? Or the last decade in which foreign conflicts destroyed the economy, raised the debt and have set the stage for hte collapse of the dollar.
I'm starting to believe there is no way to get the train back on the tracks regarding foreign policy because the American people NEVER hold their public officials accountable. This speech by Rubio is just jaw-dropping with regard to the callous nature of what war actually is.

The reason that foreign policy and the national security state is so important is that, like a cancer, it metastasizes into other policies that always grow government and shrink liberties....think of the NDAA, Patriot Act, assassination of American citizens without charges, and all the money and liberties we lose from undeclared and unconstitutional wars.
Ron Paul understands this and this is why he doesn't and will never compromise on a non-interventionist foreign policy. Its also one of the reasons I respect Dr. Paul immensely and shows his integrity. Its the same reason I won't compromise on it either and could never support someone like Marco Rubio.
