look its simple; RP needs a strong finish somewhere to smack the MSM into covering him. they're not going to do him any favors, ever.

it's like what they say about young people finding jobs; you can't get hired unless you have experience but how can you gain experience if you can't get hired? right or wrong, RP won't get media exposure w/o doing better in the primaries, yet the reason he's not doing better in the primaries is primarily because he's not covered well in the media.

any change in this, imo, has to come from doing better in the debates. there, and only there, are RP and his opponents out in the open and against each other, and people can hear ron's message against the others. it is there he needs to begin taking charge and start to dismantle his opponents with some snese of urgency. ron needs to be more forceful, yet articulate and focused on his message. for all the good things ron is, an orator he is not. most importantly, he needs to start acting like the legit contender he is. he should speak with confidence and clarity, and make sure people know a vote for him is a vote for winning. in short, he should leave viewers thinking "i want that guy to be my president"

When hasn't he had a great debate?

Humility will take you far.

I don't think we should forget that, first they hail the chief, and then they crucify him.
We have to prepare for that. We must stand together, even to the death.
Lincoln, Gandhi, John Paul, Ron Paul
I can't believe I am a part of this.

as long as Ron Paul is feeling well, I have no doubt that he'll do well. That one debate, the CNN/Youtube one a couple of months, I could tell he had the flu or the cold and he wasn't as sharp as usual. The other thing is he needs to begiven time and not interrupted or laughed at.

Let's cut to the chase. I think Huckabee is done. Guiliani has been long done. McCain is running on fumes. So it's Romney vs Paul. I hope in tonight's debate that Romney attacks Paul, like Huckabee has done plenty. Hopefully it'll show the viewing audience and the media that it's Romney vs Paul just as it is Obama vs Hillary.

I'm praying that the rope-a-dope we're seeing in the campaign strategy also applies to the debates. If that's the case, we're in for the better debates yet!

If the issues of abortion, gun control and immigration all three come up in the debates, Paul will smoke the field and get a HUGE chunk of the base to say "hey, who is this guy?"

If he performs as well as he did in the last debate (the FOX one that got re-aired without Ron's bit about the GOP), then it should be quite a show. I had never screamed "F!@# YEAH!" at the TV until that debate :D :)

Maybe Wolf or someone will give Ron a hard time in the morning so he's fired up for the debate -- I swear that's why he did so well last time. He got warmed up by Wolf grilling him on the newsletters. Then again, Tim Russert is one of the moderators I believe, so that may be enough to get him riled up.

Ron Paul has NOTHING to lose....He should go after his opponents!

At this stage of the game...he is being marginalized...He has nothing to lose in bashing his opponents and their hypocritical positions....Let them have it...and BASH the Establishment Media too....They seem to want to control our alleged Democracy.....

considering what we saw from the last debate (i also screamed f*ck ya at the tv btw), and from his recent showings in arizona and louisiana, we'll definitely see some fireworks unless they pretend he's not on stage or something

I love the doc, but even I've been critical of his debate performances. There's no excuse for not having him prepared better. His responses should be succinct, sound-bite worthy. And please, can we get him to emphasize that he gets more financial support from the military than any other candidate! That would immediately cut out the legs under McCain and the other war-mongerers. Something simple like, "As a veteran I know that my views on the Iraq War are correct and since I've received more support from active duty and veterans, it's clear that they agree with me as well." That leaves the other candidates the unpalatable task of trying to bash Ron without bashing the military. Not easy. Also knocks some of the shine off of McCain's hero image.

As a follow up, my fiancee who is a lib dem (but supporting Ron Paul) says he really needs to do better in the debates. So that's a criticism from another demographic.
