I just came into some money and have switched it over from a savings account into the market, and was looking for suggestions of what to buy. I am looking to get into oil and silver for sure....so if anyone has any good stocks in those catagories or any others i would b very grateful 2 hear about them

I would suggest converting your money to other currencies while what you have is still substantial.

If you have more than $10,000 I would suggest investing it overseas with Euro Pacific Capital.

I have a related question that will help Revo out as well. I want to invest in silver online too. I have physical already to hold for my savings, but i would like to try and buy the lows and sell the highs to make a little cash on the side. So what site would you guys recommend for buying and selling silver/gold/oil shares?

There's not much you can do. Unfortunately, SLV, the main silver ETF, probably doesn't actually own any silver, so if you are holding it and that comes out, you'll lose your shirt, just like you would if you were holding a stock that went bankrupt.

If you are looking to profit from a carry trade, I would suggest you try buying in bulk on APMEX, and selling small lots on Ebay. You can make a tidy little profit doing that.

You may want to keep an eye on the commitment of traders reports from cftc.gov so you know when the banks are piling on the shorts to knock silver down. I started a thread over on the kitco forum which might give you some useful information.

That's a pretty good recommendation.

Then to diversify, you could buy ammo, berkey water filter, long term food storage, and some silver bullion that you physically possess.

GDX would work well for this, it is a miner ETF. The miners usually overperform and underperform gold/silver. When gold topped at 990 a few months ago, the ETF went from 36 to 45 in a about 2 weeks. Now that gold is back around 920, the ETF is back to 36.
