I am beyond furious.
I got a major audit this year.
I'm the former chair of the campaign for liberty in louisiana, and renown activist. I'm known in this area as vocally against the current government.
The IRS has been fucking with me. I told people before this crap broke out that it felt like i was being targeted for my association.

Here's a conversation I'd like to see (2nd planker refers to an IRS drone as their job is to enforce the second plank of the Communist Manifesto - income tax):

torchbearer: I accuse you of targeting me b/c of my libertarian activism. You should have to prove to me that you aren't. Failure to do so will result in a fine and/or prison time.

2nd planker: Sir, I can't be asked to prove a negative. The legal system of the United States assumes everyone is innocent until proven guilty and the burden of proof is on the accuser.

torchbearer: In that case, you can't ask me to prove that I didn't cheat on my taxes or else face fines and/or prison time. Come up with proof that I did, or get the fuck out my life.

that is how the audit worked. i was accused of a crime and told to prove my innocence.

By law they have to keep all the records as far as I know.

Although that doesn't stop them using outside emails like the EPA administrator was.

This government is fundamentally corrupt!

I already mentioned it before in other threads, but I was also audited. Took just short of a year to complete. I don't make enough for the IRS to be interested in me either, so I think a pattern is emerging here. I did contribute several times to the Ron Paul campaign.

Yeah, I wasn't audited but I got a notice of levy for taxes I had to prove I didn't owe. It being guilty until proven innocent with the IRS.

Since the thread seems to be going this way, would it be a bad idea to start poll thread on this? That way we could see some numbers without everyone worrying about posting text. I'm just curious if this is a real pattern statistically. Not that I really know how to analyze it, but I'm pretty sure someone here does.
