The Blaze

“We’re broke,” the governor admitted of his state, adding that his campaign for office promised “bold” changes and that‘s just what he’s going to do

Rand Paul is in BP’s pocket. Look at the the finances of Tea Party express and other “tea” lobby groups you will see the Koch brothers or their companies. The Tea- Baggers are astro-turf.

I don't buy that argument because Lincoln also enslaved people in the North. He just used another name for it. Draft.

To clarify, it's true the South wanting to conserve slavery. But the North started enslaving new people, and many of them ended dead.

Good point. There were also negro slaves in the North-3000 or so, as I recall.

Yeah... its called a troll.

It's so depressing talking to these zombies. They just call us egotistical for not wanting to give all of our money away. They even admit that if the option was voluntary most people won't pay. :( These people are what we're up against. It's terrifying.

i didn't think public employees could take a political stance publically like that.... that said, these people are dilusional and the governor should set a date to return to work and those that choose not to can consider themselves terminated. That should make balancing the budget easier. All private sector jobs must compete and this includes the pay/benefits scale... just because you are an educator does not make you exempt. I am embarassed for them using the guise of out their for the kids. If it were about just the kids, then they'd work for free.

Playing hypotheticals here:

Let's assume the Republicans, big business, and the bankers win their war against the little people and break all the unions and thus push everyone down from their current wages to the minimum wage with no benefits, what happens next?

I ask because all I've ever heard from Republicans is that unions are bad and need to be abolished but I have yet to hear WHY they are bad. I've heard some compelling arguments as to why Private Sector Unions are bad, and that's because it's a burden to the taxpayers, but I haven't heard why all unions are bad.

I wish someone could explain to my why it's bad to join together in a group of like-minded individuals to fight for what you feel is right, whether it's joining a union to receive fair treatment at work, or joining a group that marches together on DC to demand equal rights for minorities, or joining a group that defends your right to bear arms. To me there is no difference between joining the NALC, NAACP or NRA. They all represent their members and help make sure their voices are being heard and I'll fight any government that attempts to restrict their rights to freedom of speech and of assembly.

Another topic in this war between is Walker and the unions is, what about defending Contracts. If the state signed the contract with the state workers and the state looks to rip up the contract and declare it invalid where is the outrage in that? If I sign a contract to put a new roof on my neighbors house and he signs a contract stating he'll pay me for that work, he better pay me when I'm done because we had a written agreement. If I'm half way done with putting his roof on he can't just say "hey, I had every intention of paying you $500 to reroof my house but I'm broke so you can either accept $10 to finish my roof or I'll find someone else to do it." Where did everyone go that defends contracts?

People talk about the north eastern states polluting the country with Socialism when it is Wisconsin has lead the way in various Socialist and Communist legislation that was later was adopted by most other states. Like Tommy Thompson's welfare reform and child support policies his consultants modeled after Soviet law. I sure hope the Republicans do not cave on this one. We do not need another policy model out of Wisconsin to pollute the rest of the nation.

Break the back of the union and begin firing employees that do not show up for work!

No one really has an issue with private sector unions, though they'd be more respected in a "right to work" state. What folks have a major problem with is the public sector unions which have no realistic caps on pension compensation since the system is so skewed in their favor. Secondly, it is the fact that public sector unions use taxpayer funds to essentially lobby and catapult their preferred candidates into legislative positions of influence. It's an endless cycle of patronage with the the taxpayer being milked like a cow.

I never stated that it gave them an incentive to steal but rather they didn't have anything to lose by committing a crime because they would be out of a job in a year anyway. Morally, I could never steal from my job or others and apparently neither could you, but that doesn't mean that others wouldn't. You're misinterpeting what I said.

About the background check, the Post Office can't discriminate against anyone regardless of their past. If they past the test and are at the top of the list then the Post Office is required to hire them.

I did misread what you wrote. Sorry

My point is a temporary employee stealing from their employer faces more consequences than getting fired. The temp employee faces loss of freedom from arrest and imprisonment as well as monetary loss from fines, court costs, restitution etc.

And, regardless if they are temp or full-time people will still steal as even you admitted. Are you saying most temporary employees at the Post Office are thieves or that all temporary employees are more pre-disposed to commit crimes due to the short duration of their employment?

Bingo, the difference is in how they get their money.

Man I love the news sometimes..just this past weekend I was freaking enraged at neocons with all my guts.

Now as I see more and more of this wisconsin union shit, I'm now starting to be freaking enraged by the socialist liberals

Ignorant fuckheads.

I respect their right to protest - but I wonder how the 20% unemployed feel as those with jobs "unite" and demand more pay. You gotta wonder how long it will before some/many of those people will be told to take a hike - and in will come the 20% unemployed - hungry for jobs and more than happy to take what these people are getting.

And these statist freaks say libertarianism is selfishness -- who are the real selfish bastards now, huh?

In the words of Lawrence from Office Space: "Fuckin' A!". I can't wait to bring this up next time I talk to one of my collectivist friends. I guess it's only the evil private sector that needs to make sacrifices to benefit the 'greater good'.
