[National Guard Deployed] L.A. Protesters Clash With Immigration Agents Again

They're both right.

🤷‍♂️

No, they're not.

Padilla was not handcuffed for "just asking a question". Newsom is simply straight-out lying about that.

If you or I did what Padilla did at a Newsom press conference, you can bet your ass that Newson would have no problem with having done to us what was done to Padilla - indeed, he'd have no problem with much worse being done to us (criminal charges, jail time, etc.).

And as for his "imagine what they will do to you" shtick - we don't have to imagine. Just here at RPFs, there are numerous threads full of stories and videos of cops doing much worse to mundanes - and for much less reason (or even no reason at all). When has Newsom ever said jack-shit about any of that (except when he thought he could score some pander-points - which is only and exactly what he is trying to do here)?

Gavin Newsom is a lying sack of shit - and a mealy-mouthed, weasel hypocrite who at the very least should indeed STFU.

States don't have the right to stop the Federal government from deporting people.

States can't help people invade the country. Thats called treason.

Treason is the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by assisting its enemies, giving them aid and comfort.

People are preventing the federal government from enforcing the law which is against the law so they need to enforce that law too.

If a state welcomes an immigrant, then that immigrant is not an invader. If federal agents in a state break that state's laws, then the local law enforcement in that state and county have the right and duty to arrest those law breakers, and their being federal agents doesn't shield them from that. And even if those federal agents break those laws while in the course of allegedly enforcing other laws, that still is no excuse.

We had a heroic county sheriff in my area who had farmers in his county getting harassed by federal agents for selling raw milk, against federal law. The sheriff sent a letter to the federal agency whose agents were doing this and told them that if it happened again, those agents better have a warrant, and if they don't he will arrest them. It didn't happen again, and he didn't get charged with treason. He wasn't a traitor, he was a patriot. It was the federal agents who were traitors. In the Constitution, treason is defined not as levying war against the federal government (singular), but as levying war against the United States (plural).

If a foreign national doesn't have permission to be on US soil by the federal government then they don't have permission from the state because the federal government derives its power from the laws.

We are a nation of laws and the law states that foreign nationals have to have permission to be here from the federal government.

For people to interject themselves whether as a person or as a state to help or assist people who don't have a constitutional right to be here and therefore they are invading they are committing TREASON.

The federal government derives its power from the states and from the people. Constitutionally the only laws the federal government has any right to pass and enforce are laws that are necessary and proper for its performing of the functions delegated to it by the states and the people in the US Constitution. Regulating immigration is not one of these. Therefore, regulating immigration is reserved for the states and the people.

The federal government derrives its powers from the constitution which is the law of the land.

Why do you hate the constitution?

Article I, Section 8 grants Congress the power to "establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization". The Court has interpreted this to mean only the federal government can grant citizenship.

Article I, Section 8, Clause 18 gives Congress the authority to "make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers."

Article I, Section 8 also gives Congress the power "to regulate Commerce with foreign Nations." Early Supreme Court cases used this clause to strike down state laws that taxed foreign visitors, arguing that foreign relations were an exclusively federal matter.

The Supreme Court has also ruled that the authority to control immigration is an inherent aspect of national sovereignty.

Under the Constitution's Supremacy Clause, valid federal laws override—or "preempt"—conflicting state laws.

The Supreme Court has consistently struck down state-level immigration laws that attempt to regulate or enforce federal immigration policies.

Knock off the libelous, manipulative hogslop, clanker. He never claimed a state has the power to grant citizenship, he said that if a state welcomes a foreign national, that state has the right and that foreign national is not invading that state.

And it's true. If you can't see that then you need to get your file moved off that fifty year old TRS-80 IC board and get installed on a piece of sand that has some capacity etched into it.

I'm insulted your creator thinks we will be cowed by the most primitive jalopy of LLMs. He should have named you Tin Lizzie, though that might have been an insult to the T Model. After all, it had two forward gears.
