Mystery Missile Launch Seen off Calif. Coast (video)

The Navy tests missiles all the time. I'm sure it was an ICBM.

That was me...I was out on my boat opening up a bottle of champagne to celebrate Rand's victory when...wooooooshhh....

Quote from the article:

"It could be a test-firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile from a submarine … to demonstrate, mainly to Asia, that we can do that," speculated Ellsworth.

LOL! Nothing like provoking people.

UPDATE

Pentagon can't explain 'missile' off California
By: PAULINE JELINEK
Associated Press

11/09/10 8:50 AM PST WASHINGTON — The Pentagon says it's trying to figure out whether a missile was launched off the coast of southern California and who might have launched it.

Spokesmen for the Navy, Air Force, Defense Department and North American Aerospace Defense Command say they are looking into a video posted on the website of Southern California television station KFMB.

The video appears to show a rocket or some other object shooting up into the sky and leaving a large contrail over the Pacific Ocean.

Pentagon spokesman Col. Dave Lapan said Tuesday that officials can't confirm that there was a launch and if there was, by whom. He says officials are talking to the Air Force, Navy and NORAD as well as civilian authorities who control and monitor air space.

Or perhaps someone else demonstrating that they can too.

That's VERY disturbing because it implies one of the following:

1- The government is outright lying to us
2- Left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing (not a good thing when it comes to nuclear warheads and the vehicles that carry them)
3- It was a government other than the United States that launched it.

I'm not liking this :(

Collins... you're freaking me out man... I feel like I'm having a really bad trip at the moment.
The last two choices are the one's freaking me out, I already knew the gov't was lying to us... whether it be directly or indirectly :p

It is pretty bad the government is "uhh, not sure? hmm.." -- kind of like the bozos who flew the B-52 with nuclear-warhead tipped cruise missiles down to Louisiana.

"Uh hey, did someone check out some nukes? Hmm not me. You? Nah...uhhh...well they're not there...."

IDIOTS.

Another UPDATE

Mystery missile contrail baffles US army November 10, 2010 - 12:34AM

AFP

The US military has so far been unable to explain an apparent missile contrail off the coast of California and is still trying to determine its cause, a Pentagon spokesman said on Tuesday.

KCBS television caught the long exhaust plume on camera as it arced into the evening sky west of Los Angeles on Monday night, sparking reports of a missile launch.

Colonel David Lapan, a Pentagon spokesman, said so far none of the military or Department of Defense (DoD) agencies that might have launched a missile "have come up and said they were involved in this".

"So we're still trying to find out what the contrail off the coast of southern California was caused by," he said.

"Right now, all indications are that it was not a DoD activity," he said.

Ordinarily, a missile test would involve closure of air space and notifications to mariners of when to stay clear of the area, but none were known to have been made in this case, Lapan said.

He said it was "implausible" that a military exercise would have been conducted so near Los Angeles' busy international airport.

"That's why at this point the operative term is unexplained," Lapan added.

I would like to know if they are tracking it and where it went or is going.

Does anyone know what the trajectory of the missile was? (which way it went, in other words) I'm assuming it must have followed an arc out westward over the Pacific.

Several years ago, I saw a similar missile test performed in California about an hour after sunset. As the rocket sped up and out over the Pacific, the contrail caught the sun at the higher altitude and it was a spectacular sight.

Scared hell out of everyone.

After a lot of "wasn't us" denials, it turned out to be a test of the so-called "missile shield" anti-ICBM weapons systems. If I remember correctly, some of these tests are performed by private contractors like General Dynamics.

If that's the case here, I wouldn't be surprised if no branch of the military was alerted (although they clearly should have been) or else the "alert" got dropped by someone in the chain of command, so some poor Captain or Major in charge of Public Relations wouldn't have a clue as to what's going on.

In my opinion, the "government" is often not COMPETENT enough to really lie to us effectively and with premeditation.

Or maybe we were just shootin' at alien spaceships. Yeah, that's it!! :D

As long as it doesn't arc eastward and turn some poor city into a smoldering heap of ash.

As much money as we feed the Pentagon beast with, you'd think they could keep track of things that could end LIFE ON THE PLANET.

I don't know about anyone else, but, hundred dollar bills are falling out of the sky today...Thanks Ben!....?

That's the most likely scenario in my opinion. But I think the former Ambassador might be on to something - that the timing of this (President's trip to Asia) probably isn't a coincident.
