My high school has Ron Paul content blocked

I second this idea, and would like to know the name of the school ... We could bombard the school district for you, and help remove this limitation, if you would like.

Well,
At least I'll write the school district about this, if you want ... Your choice.

Work arounds exist and have been suggested, but you shouldn't have to deal with this ... It violates academic freedom.

well she was glowing unnaturally i havent eaten in a week and i have no clean underwear it was time. that and the random remarks of Are You shitting me and F*** you frothy coming from the computer room kept me up at night she will be back in due time dont worry
Are you being abused by your mother, get some community help from your friends and neighbors!

They shouldn't be censoring the internet in the first place, schools should have absolutely no authority to censor websites or material and say to your principal, it is the freedom of the internet that allows you to do this at school. I haven't checked if ron paul is blocked in this area yet but it really doesn't matter because in our speech and debate team, we can bring laptops and connect to our speech and debate wifi at anytime bypassing the school's firewall by using other proxy software, I forgot what it was called

Ill get around it in due time just dont wanna get internet privileges blocked because im doing big paper on black hole thermodynamics so when im finished with it I will work on getting through

Im not sure I will ask the Tech guy as he is a friend of mine but he did say he would try and take them off block list so it may just be the sites the articles were on but the words getting blocked seemed to be ron paul because i could watch videos about romney on same political site
Start creating a list of blocked sites.

I can understand them blocking porn, but not political stuff.

Thank you if nothing is done by end of this school week coming up i will be glad to have you guys help out but I think I've bugged them enough lately they are getting tired of it.

Yea they were all political sites I will print off a list and take it to next school board meeting

Oh noes, are they going to get the fascist police to arrest you for looking at Ron Paul?

Ah.. blocking Ron Paul... letting you search for Santorum or Romney... and singing songs about how great our dear leader, Obama is ^^

True ... It is their equipment.

I'd go above the school ... Straight to the district ... Have Mom file a formal complaint, claim academic freedom and threaten to seek damages for intentionally hampering ALL childrens ability to investigate the political process that IS this nation.

This is the best idea. Skip the school altogether. Get your mom, some fellow R supporters, and even a few ACLU liberals into the mix, and raise hell at the district level.

As much as I loath the ACLU for departing from it's original purpose, they do have a way of making waves.

How exactly does this work? You can't read any content that has to do with Ron Paul? Even YouTube videos that have Ron Paul in the name?

Maybe... but this strikes me as a bit odd.

But don't they have a right to decide how their property is used? The computers are theirs, more or less. They can decide how they get used. They aren't depriving you of your rights as you can go use your own computer to look at whatever you want.

If it's a public (read: government) school we're talking about here, then it damn well isn't "theirs."

It damn well isn't theirs, the taxpayers paid for it and if the residents that live in the parameter of the school district decide that they can, they can.

hmmm, a government school suppressing a State dissident and libertarian...I haz teh surprised! /sarcasm

Get Real. That stuff belongs to the students and parents. We pay for it. Are you a troll or just lack understanding about where the money comes from. Property Tax is one place, among other taxes.

Obama Money, really?

It's under their control ... Don't fool yourself with technicalities ;)
Oh, I'm not fooled - I'm under no illusions whatsoever in that regard. ;)
I was just reacting to the implication that what they are (or seem to be) doing is justifiable on the basis of property rights.
