PA Air National Guard deployed for Libya missions

Units from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard are involved in the international effort to enforce a no-fly zone in Libya. Members of the Harrisburg-based 193rd Special Operations Wing have been conducting psychological operations as part of the mission, which includes broadcasting radio and television signals to the population on the ground.

My close friend told me in person today that her brother called her last night telling her that he is deploying to Libya. She's freaking out because he told her that he might not return. He's in the air force, so I told her that he'll probably be fine because he'll most likely be stationed in Italy where our air forces are stationed there.

No, it turns out that he is being DEPLOYED IN LIBYA AS A GROUND FORCE.

Any idea what unit he is in?

I actually cried for a while when a particular member of the forum announced he'd joined. His life's at great risk, he is doing the government's terrible work, and "representing" the US citizens using their money. Why?
.

There is a lady I work with that has broken down in tears twice already today. The last couple weeks she has been beaming with pride that her son was accepted into westpoint, now she knows that her son will most likely be going right into the sandbox after basic.

She doesn't want him to enlist, she's talked to him about it, but he sees it as 'doing his patriotic duty'. I have all the sympathy in the world for her, but I won't have an ounce for her son.

Did anybody see where Qaddafi has handed out over one million firearms to civilians?

If we send ground forces into Libya, it could very quickly become a bloodbath.:(

a sandbox ain't ww2 era rice paddies.
we have a constitution. i had
reflected back to thomas jefferson
and the marine corp hymn. quietly although
our local airfields have been quiet,
there has been a quiet call~up
across the board. i assumed only Xe

last time we all were in north africa under a true and total declaration of war, indeedy we all
were chasing after the legendary desert fox until el~alllll~ahh~main became quite a battlefield.

marines sometimes guard nsa.
three~pronged in trident terms
of toe-hold sorta like inchon
implies a way to land troops.
the five sided building has these
convoluded scenarios. are some
of the deployments an option?
i feel westpointers should keep
to their studies. our Civil War had
pulled at several westpoint classes.
case in point, the life of robert e. lee!

we seem to be in an endless decision tree "cat and mouse" up~escallating
with the very de facto gov't of libya that until a few weeks ago was de jure.

our war is not going to go away.
i have a family member who may
be sent over there in the next few
years or even sooner. i am praying
and i am able to read my mark twain...

Not to be callous.... if you talk to friend's brother remind him HE took an oath to the Constitution of the United States.

...and many of the auld tridents most cold war were being refitted with tungsten rods so as to be conventional.
the potential toe~hold scenario may have another wave of advanced air located projectiles... again... also
...if we are pulling up and out intermediate students in our military academies becuz the "W" burnt our local
national guard units aggragately, or even in a humour like as if both "winnie" churchill and FDR are alive right now...

Problems:
F-35s cost almost almost $300 million each (including maintenance).

Everyone pays attention to the cost of the aircraft, yet especially in today's world of smart munitions, the bomb/missile load on one of those things costs more than the aircraft. Usually.
