I had looked into it briefly, and a law was passed quite a few years back that made it illegal to do this... so as far as I know - you can't get out of paying into the Ponzi scheme. (unless you fit into one of those tiny niche religious groups that they exempt)

Just got done figuring up my taxes for fiscal year 2010 and I'm madder than hell. Can you believe how fucked up this country is to let the current taxation system continue??? I have to fucking pay the state for "social security" and what kind of fucking shit is that? ITS FUCKING INSOLVENT!

Seriously, about a third of my income has to go to the state!!! ITS LIKE PAYING OFF A FUCKING MAFIA!! THEY DO NOTHING FOR THE MONEY THEY JUST PUT A FUCKING GUN TO YOUR HEAD AND MAKE YOU PAY IT!!!

On top of all that, the money im paying in is going to pay someone elses social security, and bridges in fucking afghanistan!!

It's not "like" you're paying off the mafia, you are paying off the mafia. I mean, they aren't limited to italians, but they are an organized crime syndicate.

And ya, I hear ya brother. Every time I file for my taxes, I feel the same way. I pay people to take care of all that stuff for me now, because it just gets my blood boiling and discourages me from working on my business. I do my best to ignore the state, otherwise i wouldn't work at all. I don't like doing business with criminals.

So ya, I try to ignore it as best I can, but it's awfully hard when I see things like my state-employed relatives rolling around in nice new cars, and buying nice new homes with their fat salary, while I struggle to replace my piece of shit car after having a very successful 3 years of running my business. If I wasn't giving up about 50% of my income to the state (i live in canada), then I would be a rich man. Taxes are killing entrepreneurial spirit, i don't doubt it.

there is also what's called a form 4029 (i think the numbering is right) that essentially allows you to opt out of SS if you are affiliated with a religious group that is opposed to private/public insurance. That are lots of restrictions and the church must have been formed prior to 1950 as well

I don't think so. The amish and mennonites do not have to comply if they choose to rescind iirc. I have heard it stated as they rely on their children and the specific religious community for support in their later years. It is contrary to their beliefs to depend upon the state for aid but is subjective as to which ones comply with the refusal to participate in ss and insurance programs relative to their specific groups policies on the issue (just as issues of transportation and phone are dealt with at a community level...)

Agreed. The people by-and-large are even stupider than the politicians they elected. Look at the huge disaster voter initiatives have helped to cause in California, where over the past decade that state's electorate consistently chose to concurrently raise spending and cut revenue.

So, I applied for Welfare but I hit a mental block when the Assistance Office called about my "case load" and blocked the number.

I'm pleased to say I instead filed my taxes and will receive over $5,000 from the IRS to purchase booze, novelty popsicles, and remote-controlled helicopters.

Everyone is too scared of the government and IRS. As long as the 1st Amendment allows us, we will just complain about the IRS and the Marxist income taxes AND DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.

I've been proposing that our Tea Party candidates introduce legislation to outlaw payroll withholding of taxes. Make every worker write a check every month to the IRS. That would be one way to start a tax revolt and open some eyes.

Next year is the 100 year anniversary, might be a good time for a celebration of our status as tax slaves.

I was audited by the IRS. Total pain in the butt. I was soooo scared when it started. It took months from beginning to end. I knew I had done nothing wrong but I was afraid of the unknown. Why did they single me out? I don't know, maybe some stupid computer model pegged me. When it was over the government owed me a few thousand. I broke even after paying my accountant and losing work. Taxpayers lost a ton after paying the salary of some f-ing idiot at the IRS to attack an honest citizen.

I'm going to write all my reps, too. Directly ask them to incite a tax revolt by ending payroll tax withholding. This will weed out the fascists from the freedom fighters. In light of the worldwide revolts, it is time for one in the USA. We have been contributing to the dictators who are being toppled with our tax money, if the people who had earned that money were able to keep it, those dictators wouldn't be in power.
