Speaking as one of his 2400 new donors, an additional $2450 ain't gonna happen. I reached deep into my savings for Ron, and still couldn't max out on that campaign.

No question cjm, there are more like you who can't give the entire max out amount than can but it simply highlights the breadth of Amash's well he can tap. Ellis has to find more max out donors which is very hard unless he can show he is winning - which he cannot. It also clearly shows that Amash's potential for growth is tremendous as he brought in so many new donors despite it being far out from the election. Nothing points towards Ellis having easy sledding.

Well this is really disappointing. I was hoping Amash's opponents would waste more of their money. I don't just want to ruin the establishment politically, I want establishment supporters to bankrupt themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed throwing Mitt Romney's unopened fundraising letters in the trash and letting every neocon I could find know that his donation was sent straight to the landfill. Eventually they WILL stop donating. (maybe the big banks won't, but your average O'Reilly-watching (R)epublican will).

The real question is how much of his children's inheritance is he willing to blow on this race?

To my knowledge, there haven't been any polls conducted on the primary race but I suspect that Ellis is in serious trouble. Both in finding a message that he can consistently use to win in a Republican primary without alienating large swaths of the primary electorate (on either the center or right) and that he faces potentially a disastrous fund raising deficit that he will be unable to compensate for with his own personal fortune.
