MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry apologized Tuesday for openly mocking Mitt Romney's black adopted grandson, after Sarah Palin led the chorus of conservatives who criticized the cable news host.

The Romney family Christmas card was among the items featured in the "Nerdland plays Caption That!" segment on the cable news show Sunday.

In the photo, the former Republican presidential candidate and his wife Ann, who are both white, sit in the center of their 22 grandchildren. Nestled on Mitt's knee is one toddler grandson and on his other knee he holds baby Kieran James, the adopted infant son of Mitt's son, Ben, and his wife, Andelyne. His adoption was announced in September.

The Romneys, who are devout Mormons, have regularly showcased their five adult sons and their ever-growing brood.

After the image flashed on the screen during the show, actress Pia Glenn broke out in song, singing, "One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just isn't the same."

"That little baby, front and center, would be the one," said Glenn, who was among the four panel members who joined Harris-Perry for the segment.

Daily Beast's Dean Obeidallah, also on the panel, chimed in that he thought the photo was "great."

"It really sums up the diversity of the Republican Party and the RNC, where they have the whole convention and they find the one black person."

It's pretty disgusting that MSNBC considers their opponent's kids fair game. You don't hear anybody talk about Malia and Sasha, why can't they extend that respect to everyone's kids?

Ironic that the racist woman doesn't see that she is racist. Forget content of character, its all about color of skin.

You know what Mitt Romney, you have a really nice looking family. Really, just forget politics, and enjoy your time with all those grandkids. Don't let these vindictive, dark-hearted idiots at MS-NBC waste your time.

All of us are here for too short a time to worry about what skunks like MHP think about us or our family/friends.

All your childrens are belong to us!

I laughed out loud when she said, "Hey! Is that racist?" in naming her next segment.

CNN slams MSNBC for Romney photo joke

CNN host Don Lemon on Monday slammed his MSNBC competitors during a heated debate about the network poking fun at Mitt Romney's black grandson.

Lemon took aim at MSNBC after Melissa Harris-Perry's panel, while showing a Romney family photo with the black grandson, joked that "one of these things is not like the other," and that the photo represented the diversity of the Republican Party.

"It's a bunch of people on the left who all agree with each other, and there's no diversity of opinion," Lemon said of MSNBC. "And they're saying mean, smug things about people who may disagree with them."

Lemon suggested there would be more outrage if a white Fox News panel made similar jokes about the black grandson.

MSNBC is doing us a favor, nobody will take their insane race baiting seriously by 2016 if they're even still on the air by then.

This is encouraging christmas card photo by Mitt Romney.

Hope his leadership in adoption minority children will inspire/encourage other fellow GOP/Democrat politicians to also adopt little arab/afghan children made orphans after US led wars there. If Sarah Palin, Bush, McCain, Lieberman,Obama etc adopt one Iraqi arab/Afghan drone victim family child each and send photos out to media outlets, racial prejudices will automatically start dropping and future wars will become less likely.

An apology from Melissa Harris-Perry

On Sunday’s program, we showed a photo of Governor Romney holding his adopted grandson, who is African-American.

The intent of featuring the photo was to celebrate it— I often speak to the issue of the increasingly diverse American family.

Whatever the intent, the segment proceeded in an unexpected way that was offensive. Without reservation or qualification, I apologize to the Romney family and to all families built on loving transracial adoptions.

Karl Rove denies role in John McCain rumor in South Carolina ...

Mar 8, 2010 -
Karl Rove said Monday that he had “nothing to do” with a whisper campaign during the 2000 Republican presidential primary claiming Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) had an illegitimate black child.

Rove, who was working for then-Gov. George W. Bush, said during an interview on NBC’s “Today Show” that the rumor came from “a professor at Bob Jones University” and not the Bush campaign.

“I thought John McCain would seize it for what it was, which was an enormous opportunity to give an insight into who he and his wife are because Cindy McCain adopted a child from an orphanage in Bangladesh,” Rove said.

Tend to agree.

Based on limited sampling, 90% of MSNBC has been overly partisan jokers but they have 10% shiny spots here and there that end up being silenced mostly. Phil Donahue was one such example who despite having a high rated show was fired by MSNBC ****bags in 2003 because he was speaking out against Iraq invasion.

On second thought, they are probably 99% clowns lately.

I was just about to go in hard on her because she embodies just about everything I hate in a news commentator. She is a partisan which essentially makes her a dishonest person, she is also a feminist and a pretentious person - nerdland? come off it. Then I watched the offending video and quite frankly, I don't see the racism.

Come on guys, this is not what conservatives are supposed to be doing, leave it to the liberals i.e. make a big race deal out of something that doesn't deserve it. Yes, they pointed out that he is black which in of itself its not racist, they also criticized his placement in the center of the picture which I bet they would have even harsher was he placed in the back/side like the 2 other white infant grand kids, they also joked about him marrying Northwest when he turns 27. All of which are petty, juvenile swipes at an infant but not racist.

Yes, what a lovely looking family they have. Lousy politician, but good family man.
