Great news!
We turned in our petition signatures, paid the state fee ($3480.00) in Richmond, and are on the ballot for the June 12th Republican Primary! In 79 days, and for the first time in 20 years, Virginians in the 6th District will have a constitutional conservative choice for their U.S. Representative!
Thank you for making this happen! Your precious donations made it easy for us to pay Richmond for the privilege of running this race. We've also been spending on media, ads, campaign materials and signs -- and we need your continued generosity to purchase more needed ads, signs and mailings. Thank you so much for your past contributions of time, energy, ideas, hard work and money to our campaign. We feel like winners already -- and now the race is moving into overdrive!
We have been traveling the district (from Front Royal and Warren County, as far east as Luray and Page County, and south to Lynchburg City, Bedford, and Roanoke City) addressing the GOP unit mass meetings. These units are reflecting the will of the people of the 6th District in demanding smaller government, more constitutional limits, less spending, and more prosperity. This is what we have always been about, and this is why we will win on June 12th.
Meanwhile, the career politician who has spent the past twenty years spending and borrowing in Washingington is ducking us at every turn. Last Friday, we participated in a peaceful protest of Obama's violation of our 1st Amendment rights to free exercise of religion -- Bob Goodlatte was a scheduled speaker at the Front Royal Courthouse. He saw us there, and he knew we'd ask him why he voted to fund Obamacare and Planned Parenthood and why he refuses to debate. Shocker! Goodlatte left before his scheduled speech! Our friends were independently circulating the facts of his voting record in the crowd -- and Goodlatte ran away!
Speaking of honesty and courage -- this past Friday was also the 237th anniversary of Patrick Henry's famous "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death!" speech(listen to it here). On March 23rd, 1775, at Saint John's Church in Richmond, Patrick Henry spoke passionately of the peoples' voices again and again being ignored by the tyrannical rulers of the day -- and about what comes next.
In my last letter, I mentioned Goodlatte's unconstitutional vote for H.R. 347. This is now law, and makes criminals of protesters on public grounds. Last week, Obama signed a new Executive Order entitled "National Defense Resource Preparaedness" which authorizes peacetime martial law and places government above the Constitution. Don't expect the 6th District incumbent to breathe a word of protest. It's time for change!
