Most influential rock band of the past 15 years supports Paul.

Musical quibbling aside... I saw Dave Grohl at a John Kerry rally in 2004. What on earth would make him change his mind?

Foo Fighters Concert Pensacola

"My son went to a Foo Fighters concert last night and the lead singer asked the crowd who they were voting for in the election. The lead singer said he was voting for Ron Paul and after the concert they handed out Ron Paul Info to the crowd as they were leaving. HELL YES!! Everyone give a shout to the Foo Fighters"

Bad ass. I sent a message to Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails a while ago. Judging by the content of his recent work I can't imagine him not supporting Ron Paul. I'd like to see him get on board too. *He and Dave Grohl have worked together some recently.

I doubt that. Maybe the old angsty Trent would, but the new Trent seems to be very liberal. Half of the new album is about social injustice, and the last time I saw him in concert he bitched out the Republican congressman from my state who voted against aid to rebuild New Orleans.

I was coming into this thread thinking either Sonic Youth or Radiohead supports Paul. I've never really liked Dave Ghrol and his mediocre music, but he has a lot of talent as a musician and a few good songs. I now respect him a great deal for getting Ron Paul out there to the brainwashed mainstreamers. Go Foo Fighters!!!

The Year Zero album is basically modeled after Nineteen Eighty-Four though. It appears that he's been doing his homework, and if that's the case, he has to know that Hillary is as much in on it as the Republican warmongers.

Despite the civil libertarian angle of the album, it still has the smell of socialism. I guess we'll see, but I'd bet on him supporting Obama at the moment.

when the foo fighters donate to Ron Paul, bring attenion to Ron Paul's platform, or vote for him, maybe then I'll consider them supporters. until then, they mean about as much to me as Oprah's endorsement of Obama (i.e. absolutely nothing).

Wow

If this is true,
this is off the scale.
The Foo Fighters not only draw the 80's grunge Seatllesque scene, they speak to all free minded and musically artistic.
We all miss you Kurt.

(pay no attention to those out of touch with reality that does not define "their world"- they are missing the entire point - we will awaken even those who are "awake" ) :)
There are many different levels of awareness.

why should they need to do that? How would you know that they did or did not? Perhaps they have already donated? Should they broadcast that fact during a superbowl commercial ad? 'HEY WE ARE THE FOO AND WE DONATE TO RON PAUL! ROCK ON BROTHER!"

I think that their level of volume they have sung in the past should speak for itself.
speaking of,
have you listened to what THEY have to say?
who knows- maybe they say THE SAME THING AS RON PAUL in so many words???
hmmm
you never know until you find out for yourself...

This would be the best news ever. I am not the biggest Foo Fighters fan in the world but I respect Dave Grohl very much and his band is indeed one of the most influential in the last 15 years in the mainstream rock / alternative scene. They've been nominated for many Grammies and have made plenty of platinum albums with radio hit after radio hit. Sadly, I fear that they won't publicly endorse Ron Paul due to potential of alienating their fan base. Still, the longer Ron Paul stays in the mix, the more likely he is to be discovered by celebrities.

That's actually pretty cool. When I read the title of your thread I was anticipating something lame.
Now we need to enlist Tenacious D and Ween and we will rule the universe.

Alienating their fan base, or alienating Ron Paul's supposed "fan base" one or the other, or both. Too risky for somthing sooo important to those who understand just how important it is. No matter what, SOME people will think the Foo are nothing but "dope smoking hippies" no matter where they graduated from or how enlightened they are as human beings...
I think the smartest "celebs" keep their support low key.
The Foo are no dummies- that is for certain.

It wouldn't alienate Ron Paul's support. It would alienate the Foo Fighters' support. I'm praying that a celeb goes on a limb and says, "You know what? I'm rich. I could give a shit if I make any more money. I'm gonna support Dr. Paul!"

come on. the title is crazy. soundgarden? pearl jam? black sabbath? see, that's in my opinion, as the title is in someone else's. some might even say nirvana (I know where the foo fighters came from)

that's a craaaaazy title. fun stuff, though.

One of my favorites. :)

keep you in the dark
You know they all pretend
Keep you in the dark

And so it all began

Send in your skeletons
Sing as their bones come marching in...again
They need you buried deep

The secrets that you keep are at the ready
Are you ready?

I'm finished making sense
Done pleading ignorance
That whole...defense

Spinning infinity, boy
The wheel is spinning me
It's never-ending, never-ending

Same old story

What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays
You're the pretender
What if I say I will never surrender?

In time our soul untold
I'm just another soul for sale... oh, well
The page is out of print
We are not permanent
We're temporary, temporary
Same old story

I'm the voice inside your head
You refuse to hear
I'm the face that you have to face
Mirrored in your stare
I'm what's left, I'm what's right

I'm the enemy
I'm the hand that will take you down
Bring you to your knees

So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?

Keep you in the dark
You know they all pretend

What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
