In the latest letter sent out by Ron Paul to supporters (see below), he mentions that the campaign needs $23 million more to have a chance of beating the establishment candidates.

Now's the time to step up and do everything we can to help meet this goal. I know there's a money bomb scheduled for the 21st (http://www.freeatlast2008.com/). I also know that there are other minibombs/on-going bombs in progress We all need to get together in a shoulder-to-shoulder effort and make this next money bomb one that they will never stop talking about.

"In Iowa, many hundreds of volunteers worked day and night for our campaign. College kids took their Christmas vacations in the snow for freedom. Thousands of people donated to make it all possible. We had many phone calls, brochures, mailings, advertising. Revolutionaries from all over the country sent handwritten letters to every voter, and despite national media attacks and censorship, we got more than 10% of the vote. We also soundly beat a certain ex-mayor who started off the first debate by attacking a pro-American foreign policy and the explanatory doctrine of "blowback," the CIA's term for foreign intervention that causes trouble for us in return. The Golden Rule applies to nations as well as to individuals.

And speaking of debates, FOX blocked my participation in its last New Hampshire debate, but I think that hurt FOX more than us. We had a terrifically successful townhall meeting at the same time, and Jay Leno invited me on the Tonight Show again to discuss it. Many members of our movement were galvanized to overcome the bias, including me!

In our Iowa campaign, since it was a caucus, we were dealing with party activists for the most part, not the people. And some of the activists were very unhappy to hear our views, trying to scream them down! Others thought that peace violates Christianity. But New Hampshire is another story. There is a state and a people tailor-made for us. Live Free! Then there are Michigan, South Carolina, and Super Tuesday and its nearly 20 primaries. Frankly, we need $23 million more to have a chance of beating the establishment candidates.

I am working hard for our ideas, as I know you are. The attacks and even smears will increase as we do better. But they will not defeat our ideas. They cannot defeat out ideas. At this moment of urgency for America, with spending, taxes, spying, inflation, and wars out of control and threatening all we love, let us rededicate ourselves to freedom, prosperity, and peace. Already, I owe you all my thanks. Join me in this great endeavor in New Hampshire and beyond. Please make your most generous donation now: https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate

Sincerely,

Ron"

sack up, people... yeah it'll hurt but I'm doing it.

Oh yeah, to the $2300 club - it's a new quarter ;-)

Like they say "give until it hurts." But the reality is many will wait to see how we do the next few contests.

WTF??? They are requesting donations of $10 each? That won't make a dent.

$10 x 60,000 = $600,000.00

Where is the organization we had for the first two money bombs... it seems like the organization of the support community has spintered (and lost its mind in some cases... $10?????).

The next event needs to target $100.00 each. If people can only give less than that, fine, but the target needs to be $100.00.

I think they requested only $10 because we need to do something new, and rather than emphasize the dollar amount they want to do a bomb that emphasizes the number of donors. Certainly more than $10 is welcome, but I think they felt by putting a lower amount it would not scare people off.

That's just my reasoning, I could well be incorrect.

I agree 100%. We need to repeat the successful actions of the past. What got us there before will get us there again. As our numbers grow, so too will the amount we raise at these money bombs IF they are promoted properly.

I have donated twice so far this month (once in donation and once in purchasing bumper stickers and shirts.)

I think that's why they did it too, but we are past the point of media attention resulting from the money bombs. The main goal now should be just to raise as much cash as possible regardless if the media pays attention or not. That being said, I do still support money bombs because they are proven to work - I just wish the goal was different.

If Ron Paul wins, can we make campaign contributions tax deductible? Because $23 million is going to make a serious dent in my wallet.

I don't like this letter

It bothers me that the letter was not proofread before it was sent out.

I see at least two errors:

We had many phone calls, brochures, mailings, advertising. (many advertising?)

They cannot defeat out ideas. (out ideas?)

It indicates that the campaign is unprofessional. Trolling for money today should not be the focus. Winning New Hampshire should be.

Who cares? While I might agree, who really cares about that right now? I'm sure that they're flippin' working their butts off -- and in the face of incredible opposition from the MSM and other candidates. Things like this are bound to slip through the cracks. Insignificant IMO. I'm more than willing to completely overlook the menutia like this because I'm trying to focus on the main goal.

I don't agree that it's insignificant. If you are going to send a mass email from "Ron Paul" to tens of thousands of people and ask for 23 million dollars, you better damn well proofread it. A good number of people are turned off by unprofessional errors like this.

There is also another error, a "a pro-American foreign policy." (should be pro-America)

6 posts? You're on watch now. Troll alert.

I see only one damned acceptable response to this thread and that's "Great, I just donated!" or some derivative thereof. If you haven't donated, DON'T BITCH

Question: Why cant Ron ask for matching funds? Yes, I know it goes against his principles, BUT just think, he instantly gets what he asks for. On top of that, anything more we donate, gets matched as well. Has anyone gotten an answer from the official campaign on this?

I agree... we are coming down to the wire.... there is not much time, just weeks before the window of opportunity will be gone.

I just donated! Spread the word: http://www.digg.com/2008_us_elections/How_Do_I_Say_Thank_You

And remember each time you feel like grabbing some overpriced fast food, or buying that trinket you will forget you own in a month, wouldn't that money be better spent as an investment into a cause you believe in?
