MN State GOP Convention Thread

Just got back from this convention and all I can say is what a change from the 2008 MN convention.

Kurt Bills the RP candidate won after 2 rounds of voting. First round he had 53% of the vote and he needed 60% to become the GOP endorsed candidate. On the second round of voting he made over 60%.

The first vote of 53% is just about what I believe is the % of RP delegates we have at the convention. We will get a slate of who to vote for tomorrow for National Delegates and we have a good chance to get them all which I believe is 13 delegates. We Minnesotans are representing for the good Dr. - I feel proud to be a part.

I will be going to his breakfast fund raiser before the convention tomorrow - can't wait.

Wish us luck - so far no dirty tricks played and we have been treated well.

Awesome!! So we have a chance to win all the delegates tomorrow!!!

You Mr. Landon are awesome. thank god you are there and close to the good vibes from the Doc. You and the rest are great patriots and make me proud to be a former Minnesotan.

Clean up tommorrow. The party needs you. And you know Bills can beat Klobuttchar.

LOL. I would feel like a groupie rooming next to the rockstar suite :p. Except without all the booze, drugs, and sex of course.

Knowing St. Cloud we do need to be careful of the nightlife and possible hangovers. That city rocks and has some great nightlife and bars. Of course our delegates go to bed early, get up early and go to breakfast fundraisers so I am not too worried.

Good luck on Saturday folks.

What a nice surprise this is for me. I didn't even know this was happening today. I've perused the thread and from what I have gathered we have won a Senate endorsement for Kurt Bills, Convention Chair, Convention Secretary, a State Committee Man and Woman and 2 National Electors.

And we have an apprx. voting bloc of 53% of RP supporters. That part makes me a bit nervous though since it was based on the Senate endorsement. That might of not been a clear split of RP vs Romney delegates but might of included some crossovers.

However, if I was correct about the RP Chairman I can at least feel comfortable about a fair caucus.

Anyone know the numbers on the Chairman vote? That might be a better indicator of the split.

I do not think we have the committeeman and woman voted in. Can anyone verify we have the convention chairman or woman? And it would not be safe to assume that the initial vote on Kurt Bills on the first ballot (53%) is our total strength delegate wise. Bills has to have some non Rp votes there.

Can anyone confirm when and if we will have a vote on Nat comm man and woman?

Yeah. I'm hoping for some confirmation as this info was based on twitters.

Hoping someone who was there can confirm or deny. Peaceplan? Michael Landon?

That is awesome. I was at the first C4L rally in St. Louis and this happened to me. I was going back to my room and I heard a familiar voice coming around the corner, and lo and behold it was Ron Paul. It was getting late (after 10 pm) but I was able to get a quick picture with him. It unfortunately was one of the most awkward of my life. :-(

It was a bit funny though because his key card for his room got messed up and so while the guy he was with was trying to get it to work, I got to quickly chat with Ron in the hallway. And when done I couldn't get to sleep as I was way too excited. I did hear him leave for his early flight the next morning at about 4:30. He is one spry guy.
