*I'm still not voting for Romney, the thought makes me physically ill*
Senator Rand Paul endorsed Mitt Romney Thursday night on Sean Hannity's show. Despite any excitement by the Republicans, Ron Paul supporters have been expecting this. In May, Rand had some very positive things to say regarding Mitt Romney. Rand stated that Mitt Romney was "precisely the person I would want to turn around a failing business like our government".
Many have questioned who would be the best Republican to share a presidential ticket with current front-runner Mitt Romney. The prospect of Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul as the Vice President has many Republicans picturing this as a way to gather Ron Paul supporters to the Republican cause. Many Ron Paul supporters, including Democrats who turned Republican to vote for him, have stated they will not vote for Mitt Romney. In fact, Gary Johnson seems well poised to gather a large number of Libertarians, Democrats, and Independents to his cause.
Mitt Romney wasted no time in remarking on Rand Paul's endorsement Thursday evening, stating he was honored.
“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of Rand Paul. Senator Paul has been a leading voice in the effort to scale back the size and reach of government and promote liberty. Over the past three and half years, President Obama has made government more and more of a presence in our lives, and Americans can’t afford four more years of the same failed policies. As President, I will reform the federal government and make it smaller, simpler, and smarter. I am grateful for Senator Paul’s support and look forward to working with him to get America back on the right track.”
Ron Paul supporters maintain the endorsement of Rand Paul will not change their vote. Many also maintain that even if Rand Paul were Romney's running mate, their vote would not change. They don't consider themselves Blue Republicans for nothing.
