Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) did not vote for President Trump in this year's election, his office confirmed to The Hill.

Romney's office did not say, however, whether he voted for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

The Utah senator, who has regularly criticized Trump, last week rebuked the president for refusing to denounce QAnon, an online movement centered around a sprawling but baseless conspiracy theory that the FBI warns is a domestic terror threat, during a town hall.

“The president’s unwillingness to denounce an absurd and dangerous conspiracy theory last night continues an alarming pattern: politicians and parties refuse to forcefully and convincingly repudiate groups like antifa, white supremacists and conspiracy peddlers,” Romney said in a statement tweeted last week.

Romney last week also criticized the president and Democrats alike, claiming that both were responsible for turning the nation’s political environment into a “hate-filled morass.”

“I have stayed quiet with the approach of the election,” Romney said in a statement shared on Twitter. "But I’m troubled by our politics, as it has moved away from spirited debate to a vile, vituperative, hate-filled morass that is unbecoming of any free nation—let alone the birthplace of modern democracy.”

“The president calls the Democratic vice presidential candidate ‘a monster;’ he repeatedly labels the speaker of the house ‘crazy;’ he calls for the Justice Department to put the prior president in jail; he attacks the governor of Michigan on the very day a ploy is discovered to kidnap her. Democrats launch blistering attacks of their own – though their presidential nominee refuses to stoop as low as others,” Romney continued, calling for leaders on both sides of the aisle to “lower the heat.”

Trump has also regularly criticized the GOP senator and 2012 Republican presidential nominee, taking aim after Romney voted to convict Trump during the president's impeachment process on the charge he abused his power in his dealings with Ukraine. Romney voted to acquit Trump on the charge that he obstructed Congress.

However, the president joked at a campaign rally last month that he’s “no longer angry” at Romney after the lawmaker announced that he supported a Senate vote on Trump’s Supreme Court nominee to replace the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Trump endorsed Romney in his presidential bid in 2012 and in his 2018 senate bid, although the men have a years-long tumultuous relationship.

Well he is a Democrat and a totally compromised corrupt one at that, he's involved in that Ukraine stuff and likely some sort of Lucifarian pedo too

Why would he vote for Trump? Trump has treated him like shit.

Romney seems quaint and reasonable lately. If he was running now I would vote for him. I didn't when he ran.

Why would he vote for Trump? Trump has treated him like $#@!.

LOL

He treated Trump like dirt so Trump treats him like dirt and you think PierrE DelectO is the victim here?

And his policies are horrible, why would you vote for him?

Romney is a neocon global socialist. Is that a position you support?

"But Trump isn't perfect, has to make pragmatic choices because he is actually doing things and didn't demolish 200 years worth of entrenched corruption in 4 years so I am going to join Romney in not voting for him"

lol do you miss Dubya and Obama too?

I thought W was a good president with the exception of invading Iraq. The Bushes were decent honorable, respectable people unlike Trump. Not a fan of Obama.

So then why did Rand ask his daddy's supporters to vote for "a neocon global socialist"?

Is that a position that most Ron Paul Supporters support? Did Rand not know in 2012 that Romney was a POS?

I think Rand knew exactly what Romney was and is and expected his fathers supporters to just buck up and go along.

I'd never vote for Romney, regardless of what Rand or anyone else says.

The 2 "party" system has failed America. It's long past time for a change.

Because it was a political endorsement, and he was expected to endorse the eventual GOP nominee. As usual, it was a lesser of two evils choice.

It is assumed that you would take that endorsement for what it was, and to vote any way you wanted. He didn't expect people to “buck up” and vote that way. You don't have to do what he says or recommends. If he told you not to smoke, would you quit smoking?

Any vote is a vote for the bankers and consenting to what we have lost and they have stolen. They promise to govern you better than the others, but do indeed intend to govern you.

Sitting out on this one again. I can’t take anymore responsibility in consenting to the criminal theft happening on our watch. Shame on us all to throw away the prosperity of future generations so we can watch our football in peace.

Whatever, he's better than Biden and won't embarrass the entire country like Trump has.

I agree. Romney was actually a successful businessman (in contrast to a pretend businessman who recklessly gambled his inheritance.) Saved the Olympics. And was a governor of a deep blue state. He would have been almost ideal for a pandemic because he is pragmatic. Ideology is nice but competence also matters.

The country is so fractured having a qualified centrist like Romney or Kasich or a Bill Clinton Dem would be a positive development. Unqualified carnival barkers and theocrats on the right and Marxists and race hustlers on the left are not a way to keep the country together.

People act like revolution and tearing things down will end in bliss. It won't. You get Venezuela or Chile. The system right now for its flaws works quite well.
