Mini AMA from an Iowa Volunteer

They released this plan from the start, the problem is Rand only started his anti-ted rhetoric basically 8 months after Ted had been hammering voters with disinformation. Ted is a false choice, and I would never consider voting for the king of banks, the king of media, the king of neoconservatism, or the king of black jesus.

Oh I agree. That's why I said "forced". Sure they're all the same, I suppose it's just easier to swallow when they tell you straight up what they're going to do. While Cruz is going around saying anything and everything to anybody just for power. But you're right I wouldn't vote for any of them.

I think Rand needs to hit Rubio and Cruz HARD! Explain that he's the only CONSTITUTIONALIST running that will stand up for American values!

That's no guarantee for more support. Hell, that's pretty much all Greg Brannon ran on, yet Thom Tillis resides as a U.S. Senator right now.

Strong Military. to fight ISIS. Boogity! boogity!

That hurt Rand a lot.

Trump has that Putin quality that people want, the tough guy hero who's not afraid to kill bad guys. Rubio seemed to have that too. Need to talk tough about bombing people. (THEY ARE OUT TO GET US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111) The machine has done a good job of making a new bad guy to scare americans. Ron Paul didn't really have to deal with that as much because there were no threats that time around.

The anti-establishment vote. I think Ron was the main anti-establishment vote. During his campaign day everyone was the same, he was the ONLY guy saying anything different. I think that helped him a lot.

Where today EVERYONE wants to be the anti-establishment vote. It's what's in. So Cruz would rip off Rand and take credit for sounding anti-establishment with wallstreet backing him and of course Trump is the billionaire outsider saying fuck you to everyone to PROVE he's the anti-establishment vote.

So when you want to go that route BUT YOU DONT WANNA WASTE YOUR VOTE....go Cruz or Trump. Coz Rand's not a winner.

No way Ron could have been heard in 2016. With ISIS scaring everyone. With Cruz stealing his thunder, and Trump hogging up the spotlight Ron would not have been able to succeed in today's environment. So I don't blame Rand.

I guess that explains a lot.

I'm still shocked people actually voted for Trump, but the above answer does explain it. "Murkia! Fuck ya! Vote Trump!" I guess there's enough people who fall for that.

Rep+ to u Mani. This is dead on.

I'm with you on this, I was just making a point. I'd simply stay home or vote third party if there was a viable candidate if these were the only choices.

The funny part is now that Iowa is over Trump is about to go full socialist to win over Sanders supporters, he realizes he has reached his GOP ceiling. This is why he got all of his people to not watch the debate. He could of only lost support to other people by going.

Rand v Cruz voters

This is what I feared happened, but the thing I cant answer is HOW did it happen?

Ron and Rand put Cruz on the map...Rand has gotten far more media coverage.

How do people know who Cruz is and not Rand? Baffled.

The other concern is Cruz is definitely not even Rand-ish anymore. How is he hoodwinking them so well?

No Rand had not had more coverage than Cruz...Talk Radio has pimped for Cruz for months --- not a peep about Rand unless he came on the show and we love you Rand but disagree with you on the military

A few months ago I thought to myself does Rand want us to vote for Cruz? I posted it on here, and asked people and, I don't particularly pay attention to his campaign, his messaging, or anything. I got this impression in my limited echo chamber of Rand Paul politics. What bothered me at least in the debates was the fact that Rand talked at Cruz, rather than to him. Cruz gave this deer in a headlights look when he said that he was going to get his dads votes. Then Cruz didn't even justify it with a response, he just said I love Ron Paul. This is where he was backed into a corner, I wanted Rand to say why didn't you vote for audit the fed vote ect ect. It almost seemed like theater to me, Cruz won the exchange. I think Rand has been too much of a "nice guy", I think when Larry Wilmore tried to get him to call Ted a Tool, he should of said no he is more of a dick.. I could be wrong, but this is my assessment.

You are so right...I was calling NH the night before Rand withdrew and I got this guy who was really angry about getting called and he said I don't have time to talk to you I am watching Fox News and I am learning something....I also, that same night, got a woman who was undecided and I suggested checking Rand's website and she said she didn't do computers....I had multiple experiences calling Iowa where people would be angry and rude and worse about getting phone calls or say they knew nothing about Rand...so, I wonder, here they are in Iowa where all of the candidates are campaigning, and they have an opportunity to meet them face to face and their state government really wants, expects, demands, that Iowa be the first state to vote and the citizens are horribly obnoxious, profane, and abusive to callers, act angry and offended that they are getting phone calls, do not make any effor to meet or contact the candidates, but then think they should have the right to determine who the next president is? I lost a lot of respect for the people of Iowa, in fact I am thinking about writing their governor and suggesting to him he have a real heart to heart with his citizens if they really want to keep this first in nation status...I for one do not believe they should.
