Michigan voters Boo McCain...video

Drug dealers? Yes, drugs should be legal.

Theft and murder, however, are both legally and morally repugnant and should be punished. Surely you can see the difference.

An illegal immigrant can be classified as a thief. They don't pay taxes, which means I as a law abiding citizen and tax payer has to take from my pocket book to do so(in other words they are stealing from my coffer). I have seen many illegal immigrants here in Michigan constantly send money back to Mexico to support thier families there(via western union). On the other hand, if they want to pay all the back taxes(which I am not sure how you can tell how long they have been in our country) plus the money they would have had to pay in jail(since they have been breaking the law and prisoners do pay fees for being in jail) and take the requirments need to be a legal Immigrant, I might be alright with that(depending on what the exact process would be from the bill that passed).

Illegals rob US citizens of their money by making us pay for them. That makes them criminals.
4500 US citizens have been killed by illegals since 9-11-01.

god he's a slick motherfucker. snaked his way right out of that one.

Absolutely, changed the subject. The point was, I disagree with you, and I do not want to fight about it here. I have no illusions that I can change your mind.

Oh, I can't help it a little bit...taxes are theft, so not paying them is theft? Huh?
So Ed Brown is a thief? Russo? Other tax protestors?
OK, I'm done.

I wouldn't say snaked, I would say that the people that cheered were easily manipulated. In my thoughts snaked would have to be coniving and sneaky which would have to take some intelligence( something he is lacking, maybe from being in war? Look at the 1 out of 10 ratio of troops having phsycological issues from the Iraq war).

Illegal immigration =/= drug dealing, murdering, thievery. After all, most of our families illegally immigrated here a couple hundred years ago...

Yeah back then they didn't have any laws to break either. If this is your superficial way of thinking, then why don't we just open our borders and anybody can come in then.

Dude was asked a simple straightforward question and simply has ZERO CLUE on what his plan would be.

this is how they are going to increase the army.....they are going to tell these illegals join the armed forces and get your free citizenship.....any bets?????

I didn't say amnesty, I said make the process easier so that they wont have to illegally immigrate. If we made them legal, they wouldn't be burdens on our tax system. Also, since when do illegals qualify for welfare? I don't even qualify for welfare and my family has been in this country since before it was a country!

My argument is that we simplify the process, ie, make it easier to file for citizenship while they are in their own country. This means they will be able to PAY TAXES as soon as they begin working in America.

Yes, but just because something is illegal doesn't mean that it's an absolute. Laws are man-made, they aren't moral guidelines and you wont go to hell if you think a law should change.

Illegal immigration =/= drug dealing, murdering, thievery. After all, most of our families illegally immigrated here a couple hundred years ago...

Sorry, but your analysis is just wrong. First of all, the people that came here hundreds of years ago had to make it on their own, there was no federal government providing welfare, education and free emergency room care. That tax burden is being shouldered by the taxpayers.

Do you realize their are probably a billion people who would come to the United States if they were given the opportunity?

Do some research on the number of illegal immigrant felons in our prison system before buying into the "poor, hardworking immigrant" argument. I don't fault the immigrants who want a better life for themselves and their families, I fault the greedy employers who hire them. Besides, the citizens of this country have an absolute right to determine what our immigration policy is going to be. Did you know that in Mexico, illegal immigrants from Central America are deported at gunpoint with no due process? Did you know that you can't legally emigrate to China or India? But when we try to get control over our immigration we're just a bunch of hateful meanies

Here is the facts: The borders must be secured and current illigal immigration must be put to a good number of 0. As far as what we should do with them now, I am very uncertain to the best course of action. On the one hand we didn't enforce the law and basically encouraged them to come and on the other they are illigal and some provisions probably need to be made for them eventually coming citizens and/or leaving.

I agree with McCain on this issue. Some illegals have paid their dues and have EARNED the right to live in America. Not everything is black and white, and especially when we deal with the livelihood of people- regardless of where they were born.

The main problem with illegal immigration is the burden left on the tax payer, as Ron Paul has mentioned, but what about the ones who aren't a burden on us? There are plenty illegals who work a hard days work for less than minimum wage- and are not protected as a normal employee would be.

If you ask me, what we need to do is find a way to reform the immigration process so that people aren't going around it.

No, they havent. They still came here illegally, and screwed over someone who was willing to follow the law and come here legally and fairly. It is absolutely unfair to continue to screw over those that are patiently and fairly waiting, for those that cheated their way in, and then supposedly "earned" the right to stay here. They may have worked hard in this country, and they may be better than most other illegals, but no matter what they have done, they will never earn the same consideration as those outside of this country who are waiting and have been waiting longer than they should be because of such illegal immigrants.

Growing up I lived within walking distance of the largest illegal immigration camp in all of southern california (it was in san diego county). There were hundreds if not thousands living up in the hills in a community near some agricultural and flower fields. They even had their own restaurant and soccer field tucked back there and nobody gave them a hard time. They worked hard, and I never heard about any illegals raping or murdering anybody.

I have been surrounded by illegals and/or first generation Mexican families my entire life. I currently live in an apartment building owned by a first generation mexican family, and most of the units are occupied by family members. The last two residences I've had were in Mexican neighborhoods. I am, and always have been caucasian.

I agree with Dr. Paul completely that people wouldn't have a problem with illegals if they weren't given special privileges for being illegal. I just don't think they would be a "problem" because there would only be enough here to fill the demand.. By subsidizing them and paying for their benefits, we are encouraging them to come here and that is where we run into problems.

I have no problem with illegal aliens, they are simply trying to make a better life for themselves.

I sympathise with this, but it still doesnt change the fact that they cut in line and screwed over those who are waiting patiently to get into this country fairly and legally who are also trying to make a better life for themselves.

If you've got a line of starving people waiting for food, and some of the starving people push their way to the front of the line and TAKE the food, you can sympathise with them that they are hungry and just want to eat...but would you let them cut in line and let those that waited in line patiently have to wait longer?

No, they havent. They still came here illegally.

Are all of you who are saying this aware that the United States of America forced Mexico to change their constitution in order to join NAFTA??

I doubt anybody in this chat room likes NAFTA, but I'll bet you didn't know that it changed the constitution that Mexicans fought for about 100 years ago. The change in their constitution allowed multinational corporations to come in and kick hundreds of thousands of indigenous off their lands. The poverty rate in Mexico has doubled since NAFTA was passed, and THAT is what accounts for the huge surge lately..

Fight you say? They did fight, the Zapatistas fought for their land against the Mexican army, which was BACKED BY THE U.S. Government. So all of you who say "Mexicans need to go back to their country and fix it" are completely wrong. They live in the same type of police state that we live in and the people have very little say.

Sooooo... I'm not blaming Mexico's problems on "Americans" who may or may not suffer from them coming up here, but I am blaming it on our policies.

Maybe we should give them a break, we all know how much it sucks to have an eroding constitution.

Give'm hell John, those Mexicans are just glad to be here, American are so ungreatful.

Your lucky we don't deport all of you.

While I'm at it, go home and get your kids off the couch and get them down to the recruiter. Then Maybe we won't need as many illegals in the US military.
This is what America wants isn't it?

you lazy ass spoiled Americans. When I was in Nam we ate rats and we liked it....

"Even though McCain’s Clawson stop was packed, Ron Paul and Barack Obama quietly seem to be the most visible names in terms of signs and stickers. Paul supporters stood quietly outside Clawson High School, a reminder that more war is a tough sell in what’s being dubbed “a one-state recession.”"

awesome people.. just awesome.
