Even though I'm not as religious as I once was, it just isn't Christmas without Ave Maria. We would pray the Joyful Mysteries (rosary), open one gift, and head out to midnight Mass. The Ave Maria was my favorite part. I felt so full when I left Mass back then.

Christmas is a whole season. If you look at it from the historically Christian perspective, Advent is the preparation for the Incarnation, and then Christmas goes for 12 days.
