Mediite: Hey, CNN? Can We Talk About What’s Going On Between You And Ron Paul?

CNN, boo boos, can we talk? I’m getting a little worried about you. Here, sit down. Have some of this Wolf Spritzer I picked up at your gift shop. No, yeah, it’s pretty good. Tastes like berries. Berries and gravitas.

So. Are you and Ron Paul having, like. A thing?

Yesterday, when Paul sat down with Ali Velshi, Velshi brought up a newsletter (or, at this point, The Newsletter™), sent out two decades ago, which espoused some pretty problematic racist beliefs. Paul, as he has done each and every time he’s been asked about The Newsletter in recent years, maintained that he did not write those things, adding that “those aren’t my beliefs. So I sleep well.” Velshi pressed on, and Paul advised doubters to actually read what he’s written, read the newsletter, and find out the truth from themselves.

Then, today, Gloria Borger asked Paul about it yet again. Here’s how Paul responded:

Why don’t you go back and look at what I said yesterday on CNN and what I’ve said for 20 something years. 22 years ago? I didn’t write them, I disavow them. That’s it.
Borger, like Velshi before her, pressed on, telling Paul that, whether or not he agrees with the sentiments contained in the newsletter, he made money off them. She then continued to ask if it was “legitimate” to ask about the newsletter. Paul eventually removed his mic and walked off, possibly because one can only answer the same question so many times before doing the politician’s equivalent of taking off one’s earrings and reaching for the Vaseline.

“I did have to ask them,” Borger later said of her line of questioning. “He clearly thinks its irrelevant. He thinks it’s been asked and answered…It’s clearly a question he’d rather not be asked.”

Now, tonight, you go after the guy again. Sanjay Gupta, sitting in for Anderson Cooper, reported that Paul has a tendency to get “kind of prickly” when asked about the newsletter, which is an interesting way of spinning the fact that the guy is tired of answering the same question from your network. ....

This actually wasn't as bad as I thought. Maybe I am just desensitized to the whole subject at this point.

Ari Fleisher and that other guy were huge dicks of course. Just because a neo-nazi on some message board forum likes Paul and may donate means we are all bad. Guilt by association bullshit of course. But not too surprising. I'm not sure why Fleisher and the rest of them think a Paul win should mean nothing...we wouldn't be first with just excited college kids as 2008 as proven...but that is a different topic.

I did like that Gupta kept reiterating that Paul disavowed and can't be proven. And that Gloria ended on a good note talking about people riled up.

You know what amazes me and really pisses me off? It takes a lot of journalistic research to try and dig up old ass articles like these...most of which were not written by Paul...yet none of these people would do such a hard hitting report on the Federal Reserve or something that robs us blind daily.

And they have the nerve to call this segment "keeping them honest". Hey CNN...maybe you should list your ties to war profiting? Keep yourselves honest you fuck sticks.

"Guilt by association bullshit of course"

This is of course being a favorite tactic of the powers that be. Is it okay for Obama to go to a church with a racist pastor or be friends with former Weathermen Underground member? If so then why RP not afford the same luxury in the press?

CNN looked pretty desperate to discredit Ron Paul over a 20+ year old fan club newsletter. I was embarrassed for CNN. Their fear is really starting to show.

And someone needs to seriously go over to Redstate, where Ron Paul supporters are banned, and see what kind of GUILT BY ASSOCIATION can be pinned on that lunkhead Erickspin.

Reiterated.

This is actually a really damn good idea. A little taste of his own medicine is in order.

No, it gives him traffic, and daily paul has passed them on alexa. Come here more, go to DP and say hi to Michael. Win the market.

That other guy is Erick Erickson. A real class act. From wikipedia> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erick_Erickson [Erickson was noted for having written on Twitter about Supreme Court Justice David Souter: "The nation loses the only goat f***ing child molester to ever serve on the Supreme Court in David Souter's retirement."[13][14][15][16] In an appearance on the Colbert Report, Erickson said the Twitter statement was "not my finest hour".[11]]

I hope/pray the Paul campaign can detach themselves a bit and see that this is GOING TO BLOWUP IN THE MEDIA'S FACE. Not a little... but a lot.
  • They just need to stay focused and not make any 'unforced errors' (which is what the MSM is hoping they'll do under pressure... p.s. Ron's interview walk-off was NOT an unforced error imo. It was a huge WIN)
I feel like we're getting close to this turning into a 'watershed' moment, where public opinion turns against the attackers (in this instance, the MSM)...

Andrew Sullivan makes the point more clearly... he doesn't mention Paul explicitly, but I wouldn't be surprised if he begin making that case in the very near future.

Is This The Moment The GOP Implodes?

These things happen quite quickly in the public's mind. An event crystallizes an inchoate general feeling, and gives it clarity.

I think of the moment Gingrich threw a hissy-fit about his seat on Airforce One; or the moment when Americans first saw Bill Clinton sitting for a taped deposition, and changed sides almost instantly.

  • Keep talking abut the actual issues. That's all they want, is you to stop talking about what is wrong and how to fix it.
