Novak: McCain Won't Pick Huckabee

''Forget Mike Huckabee as a running mate for John McCain, his closest supporters say -- there's no chance he'll be on the GOP presidential ticket.

So writes veteran political columnist Robert Novak, who reports that political insiders close to McCain's presidential campaign "have put out the word that there is absolutely no chance that his last remaining major opponent for the GOP presidential nomination, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, will become McCain's running mate."

Then...the article goes on detailing Huckabee bucking for a brokered convention. Full report:

Newsmax has a poll out as to who John "Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Iran" McCain should have for a running mate.

Ron Paul is not on there, and you can't write him in.

I voted that I wouldn't vote for McCain with ANYONE running with him.

I wouldn't be surprised if McCain picked Jeb Bush or Liddy Dole as his running mate. There has been either a Bush or a Dole on every Republican Presidential ticket since '76---that's how in-your-face tightly the elite has maintained control of who gets into the White House.

Gov. Mark Sanford SC was mentioned for Veep by several of the 'Capital Gang' on Meet the Press last sunday.

The only chance McCain would have of actually winning would be picking Lieberman and pretending to be "independent" and "bi-partisan".

I really can't see Sanford accepting the position right now. He's already stated that he won't be supporting/campaigning this race. And as correctly stated in our local paper, Post & Courier, today:

But while talk of Sanford as vice president may be intriguing to Palmetto State politicos, it's just not very likely at all, said College of Charleston political science professor Bill Moore.

"South Carolina is firmly in the Republican column, and there simply isn't a

Republican in the state who would impact the attractiveness of the ticket," Moore said Monday.

Moore said McCain's vice presidential selection also will get particular scrutiny, given that McCain, 71, is vying to become the oldest man ever elected president for the first time.

If McCain chose Sanford, the media would hone in on his often rocky relationship with the Republican-dominated Statehouse. "(Sanford) has been Libertarian to the point where he's had difficulty working with a conservative Republican General Assembly," Moore said. "I just don't see Mark Sanford as a viable running mate."

This says it all and rings so true....if Paul doesn't get the job in 2008,, I'd like to see Sanford in 2012! And if Mark is looking at this goal, I don't think he wants to tarnish his name with a new prefix like McGrahamnsety has done. ;)

Is he the South Carolina governor?

Didn't he refuse to endorse anyone because he was too busy to campaign?

its Rudy folks. I can bet $5 dollars that it will be Gulliani!

I disgree, Rudy will be McLame's secretary of Defense if McCain gets to the point of having to pick one.

You know McLame is onboard with teaching the troops nation building and making a hybrid army (whatever that is) like Ghouliani supports.

Oh come on...

He's going to pick the NeoCon's dream: Condi Rice.

She makes up for McCain being an old white man. Imagine the innuendos...

Democrats have a black man, and a white woman... Well "my friends" we have a black woman who knows how to take it to the Islamo-Fascists, and understands the importance of staying on the offensive in the "Terrorist's War Against Us" (god I hate that line).

The ONLY reason that the Madman is praising Huck on his efforts is because he is leading, he is getting cocky and thinks he can't be beaten now.

Yes, and he gives the so called "conservative repubs" in our state hell! And i love it. Very fiscally conservative and works hard at the governing job. He introduced more transparecy into SC government spending where the data is in plain site on the State site. Also a little know fact, is that he used to vote with Paul when he was in Congress,,,,sometimes when there were only 2 'nays', one was Paul, the other Sanford's. :D

Rudy would be Attorney General.

I'd be willing to (almost) stake my life on his pick being Jeb Bush.

Wouldn't be surprised.
