i would emphasize that the problem is he -claimed- he knew these people on cnn during the interview with anderson cooper, and he was advocating on their behalf for american weapons, saying the rebel forces have gained his trust 100%,

and he wants the american public to trust him to trust those people too, all the while claiming the intelligence on the ground is sufficient and reliable, they would never make a mistake (as they have been in the past). that's where this irony is headed

However,, it is the rebels that used gas once and now have been caught with it.
