WTF? And they mentioned "suspending the campaign" due to the economic crisis and need to get back to Washington.

sorry - duplicate post. mods delete if you want.

Excuse the cynicism here, but I wonder if there is any connection at all to the fact that his poll numbers are slumping this week due to concerns on the economy.

This is odd. Why exactly does he think he needs to suspend his campaign to get this sorted out?

I think he's avoiding the debates. A debate would end his chances.

He could use the financial crisis to weasel out of Thursday's debate without suspending his campaign.

He was told the debate would be scripted, but no teleprompter was a deal breaker.

recent surveyusa poll

Should the first debate be held as scheduled?
Held as Scheduled: 50%
Held with a focus on the economy: 36%
Postponed: 10%

Should the presidential candidates suspend campaigning?
Suspend: 14%
Continue: 31%
Refocus on Economic Issues: 48%

Would it be good for America if Friday's debate didn't take place?
Good: 14%
Bad: 46%
No Difference: 35%

dumb move, mccain

There's no real point to the debates. I'd rather have them voting in Washington to finally get their hands a little dirty. They've absolved themselves of so many bad bills I think it's criminal how many tough decisions they've ran away from this year.

McCain just handed the election to Obama on a silver platter. Ladies and gentlemen, meet President Barack Obama.
