This is yet another story representing the lunacy of the drug war...

The Mayor of Berwyn Heights in Maryland’s Prince George’s County had a rude awakening. Apparently, a 32 lb. bag of marijuana was sent to his house addressed to his wife. A SWAT team busted down his door, shot and killed his two black labs, and held him for questioning for hours. The Mayor claims he has no idea where the pot came from. He also said that if the police would have just knocked, he’d have let them in.

"What's goin' on" officer CopThatSupportsRonPaul?

If those dogs had been Police dogs, there would be a whole lot more paperwork involved...

Say, what do you know / think about www.leap.cc ?

I think that all officers have different political viewpoints and that you should all learn to stop stereotyping and putting your eggs into one basket.

When someone like you who is a complete moron (I say this to you as a Ron Paul supporter who has no idea what Ron Paul's philosophy is) are you aware of the fact that you're a moron? And if some is a moron, how do they know if nobody tells them?

When was the last time you have actually read a book? High School?

So it appears the cops sent the Mayor a package and then broke down his door and killed his dogs. Interesting... I wonder what they had against the Mayor.

If in fact the cops didn't send the package, they should be checking out the person who informed them the pot was at the Mayors house.

The interesting thing in this case is the upper-middle-class gets to see how common people are treated every day. If you don't think the rich and poor get different treatment from police, listen:

The nice, polite defender you know who holds the door open for your wife and says "ma'am" while tipping his hat, that same guy can be a nightmare, a demon who destroys your security, safety and pride to another person.

The "shoot the dog" trick is not an anomaly, it's become SOP, standard operating procedure. We're hearing this from all over the country. Cop enters property unannounced, dog defends, cop shoots dog. It's become as standard as slapping the activist in handcuffs, roughing them up and charging them with resisting, assault and obstruction.

Bitterly ironic is the PG Co. statement "or there would be a lot more dead dogs in the county". Very funny. This is PG County where the poor live in terror of county cops. There's more than dead dogs, there's dead humans. Lotta dark stories, lotta holes in the woods in PG Co.

From the WaPo article at LRC Blog

Spokesmen for the Sheriff's Office and Prince George's police expressed regret yesterday that the mayor's dogs were killed. But they defended the way the raid was carried out, saying it was proper for a case involving such a large amount of drugs.

Sgt. Mario Ellis, a Sheriff's Office spokesman, said the deputies who entered Calvo's home "apparently felt threatened" by the dogs.

"We're not in the habit of going to homes and shooting peoples' dogs," Ellis said. "If we were, there would be a lot more dead dogs around the county."

Arrogant fucking pricks.

And they might be surprised at how many people would defend their dogs.
It is really worth getting shot breaking into someones home to get some drugs?

QFT on the SOP remarks.

Not only are they arrogant pricks, but liars as well.

It has nothing to do with drugs, although that's the "surface" excuse.

This, and hundreds of other "raids" just like it, every day, is to let us peons know, exactly, who the boss is.

They were black Labs for christ's sake, one of the most docile and friendly breeds out there.

I'm not going to say what I really think, it would get me banned.

Arrogant, miserable bastards.:mad::mad::mad:

Well, where I live, if somebody breaks down your door, you have the right to shoot them and then ask questions later.
