Massie, Khanna demand full release of Epstein files, will try to force House vote Tuesday

So it's done, that's it?
Nah, they'll keep bringing it up on other measures, but it'll likely have the same result. The best you'll see is getting some people on the record as voting against it.

Probably , any more votes Id not expect to be as close
I think you're mistaken. The whole point of the discharge petition is to force a vote on it. If they get enough signatures then it won't depend on getting out of committee.

Massie posted this on Facebook:
Does your Congressman support releasing the Epstein files?
After 7 legislative days, I can begin collection of 218 signatures on a petition to force the vote.
In the mean time these members have already sponsored the bill (.gov list can be a day behind).
Cosponsors - H.Res.581 - 119th Congress (2025-2026): Providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 185) to advance responsible policies.

It is possible my opinions are clouded by my low expectations in general of legislators in mass
I am definitely not encouraging you to raise your expectations. I doubt that the discharge petition will get the required votes. And even if it does, I won't be surprised to see some loophole prevent it from actually getting to the floor. And even if it does get to the floor, I don't expect it to pass. And even if it does pass the House, I don't know what would happen next--I assume a vote in the Senate, where it would fail. And then would this not require the President's signature after that anyway? Which it won't get.

If there is any legislation to release Epstein files that has any possibility of actually passing, it will be some kind of phony legislation of symbolic gestures emasculated by exclusions and conditions.
