So the week back and forth from DC was more successful than I had imagined, although I may be the only one (at least on here) who knows it. There's not much traffic on this site, and is probably the last place to try and inspire activism in the liberty movement. Back in 2008, it was pretty heavily trafficked - but it feels like a ghost town compared to then.
Being as it may, if anyone on here is interested, this is what we accomplished from Friday night to yesterday:
1) set up and started www.budgetrawdeal.org
2) set up and started the facebook page and twitter account. Sent tweets to all senators, and some got more than one.
3) obtained knowledge of the proper procedure and policies for gathering people around the national mall & senate building: amount of advanced notice, logistics, fees (or lack thereof depending on activity), and contacts with the parks police and capital police.
4) worked cooperatively (and with good will) towards all government officials involved in the permit process
5) visited Senators' offices to show support or voice objection, based on their vote on the budget deal
6) established credibility with their staff, speaking with authority either for or against their activity
7) sat in on Senate proceedings after talking to the ones that needed to hear the message most, Senator Sessions being the most important (that needed to hear our message). If you heard the proceedings, Sessions was outraged that he didn't even know that the military reductions were even in the bill. And if you also noticed, he was looking up at the gallery constantly during the speech. From that distance (being so close to the length of the public gallery that I was sitting in), he had to look at a specific place in that gallery. And that place was me. Every time I'm in Washington, I wear my soccer scarfs and stick out like the walking American flag that I am. He knew I was behind our organization, and was either trying to figure out what my reaction would be, or was trying to prove himself to me as a true patriot so that I would work with him in the future (and not against him to get him voted out).
8) proved to a lot of people that there is a LOT left to do in order to prevent this country from being completely enslaved under the threat of tyranny, and motivated them to get more involved, and more fearless. The only way to be completely and absolutely fearless is not to value your own life more than what it is that you fear, and with our federal government, that’s only possible with the love of Christ as protection. The worst they can do is like *nothing to a Christian, because a Christian is completely obedient – in all things, just as Christ was. So there’s nothing they can do to us that God doesn’t will. And He wills that this country return to Him. America has abandoned God, and is now paying the price. If we ask Him to delay judgment, He will – just as He always has, but that prayer request better be accompanied by a WHOLE lot of steps taken in that direction. This past week has been one step. In time, we will take others. The road to freedom is a long road when we’re this enslaved, and will take some time. But we need a majority of absolute BRAVEHEARTS in our government, and I only see a few so far – not a majority. I saw a few of them yesterday – we need to bring them MORE support, more activism, and MORE inspiration. We need to let them know that there are a lot of patriots in the citizenry *worth fighting for. And they will. And then they will be joined by others.
And then we will win.
