March 3rd Republican debate on Fox News - 9 pm ET

When did FOX adopt the "moderator as attack dog" style of debate? I've seen them do that as an occasional low blow in the past but they've turned it up to 11 and made it into a reality show.

Comments from the Democratic Underground (even Trump haters saw it for what it was):

FAUX is out to destroy Trump
They ask him the toughest questions and so far he's the only one they've shown clips on to show his inconsistency, etc. But the ting is I think it's all going to backfire.

Yep, it's damn clear what their agenda is. I find the clips unfair.

He's not going down easy, with Megan and the Chihuahuas attacking

That is what this debate seems to be all about.

It's not a debate; it's a hit job!

Also, it sounds like they brought in hard core professional yellers.

Trump is better than cruz. We dont want cruz.

It will backfire because now it's "The Donald Trump Show"

Exactly, expect Trump to hit 50% for the first time in upcoming polls.

This debate will be remembered for what it was... another establishment attempt at a hit job on Trump.

I was reading the Facebook comments, and that is exactly what people were saying in the comments.

Totally. It's an obvious attempt by them to eviscerate him.
They could be playing clips of either Rubio or Cruz lying just as easily, but they're not. Instead they're singling out Trump in an attempt to take him out at the knees!

I Think FOX Got A Call from the Republican leadership. Take him down!

Agreed. its a hit job tonight

It'll be interesting to see if Trump goes down or FOX! They might lose a huuuuuge chunk of their viewers over this.

Several of the commenters on the FOX Facebook page said they would turn off FOX now, after having watched it and supported it for years.

Well, the after-debate coverage by Fox actually defended Trump. They think Trump did "pretty well". And they don't think his supporters will care
one way or the other. They said he did falter on the Trump University thing suggesting
he shouldn't be so spontaneous but should prepare more
and anticipate the barrage. And they said Cruz kind of sat back and tried to look more
mature and presidential, with Rubio as the attack dog. But they said the 'real' adult
in the room with the most experience was Kasich, but he just doesn't have enough
time or media attention to get a big enough following. So nothing seems changed
by this debate. They basically concluded that the GOP is dead any way they play it, but especially if they attempt some back room shenanigans and interfere with the people's choice.
Haha!

Reading through the play-by-play in this thread,
and just now listening and watching a full youtube . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFCy9CP7XBk

20 mins. in and it is still just Fox and "state-of-the-race" questions . . . Chris Wallace is very overrated as a journalist

"Little Marco" and "Big Donald" -lol

finally Trump cutting government, common core . . .

Ted Cruz . . . "Do your taxes on a postcard" -lol
"and the US Treasury receives the postcards"

Doesnt matter if it Sanders, Rubio, Cruz, Clinton or Trump we are completely screwed. The death of America will be complete

IMO, Ted Cruz blew it tonight. Not that I like TedGoldmanSachs, but.............. if I was developing his strategy, rather than going after Trump; he should have delivered a knock out punch to little rubio. It would have been a surprise for everyone, and Rubio would not have been prepared. Cruz should have stayed straight on Rubio's ass with his voting record, and lack there of .... taxpayer welfare for being paid to not work ... Cruz blew this opportunity to turn this into a two person race.

Actually, the delegate math is against this strategy. Its not very likely that Cruz can beat Trump in a 1 vs. 1 in the majority of states to come. However, if Rubio, Cruz and Kasich stick together against Trump, they can force a brokered convention. In a "best case" scenario, they will even split up the campaigning - let Rubio win Florida, let Kasich win Ohio, Cruz in Arizona and so on. A week or 2 after Ohio, maybe Kasich could drop out, but after that its better for "Anti-Trump-Coalition" if both Rubio and Cruz stay in the game, as long as they coordinate their state campaigns. I thought otherwise until a week ago, but made up my mind.

Haha!

I think your after-debate synopsis/analysis is spot on.
I was most surprised by their "defense" of Trump given that the questioning during the debate was brutal.

Looks to me like Trump took another shot at Saudi Arabia tonight. When speaking about torturing family members Trump referred to a family of one of the hijackers that went home 2 days before 9/11 to, and I'm paraphrasing, 'a certain place, and not Iraq'. https://twitter.com/chrisgeidner/status/705602532182069248?s=09

I noticed that too. If he becomes Pres., and least he's not in bed with them as the neocons and Clinton's are. I wish someone would ask Trump about NATO, or the provision that if a country such as Turkey goes to war with Russia the U.S. by treaty must join them.

Debates do not matter. It was a shake down. Trump needs to spend more on ads.

That makes sense, although I don't believe Rubio will win anything else. I don't believe the debate helped him at all last night. He came across to me as a little "punk" kid.

FOX News Debate? - BS
It was more like the FOX Superpac Pro-Rubio Anti-Trump student council Pep Rally.
It is so blatant FOX is breaking election campaign laws.

It would work out only if they really stick together, if they spread out forces and campaign against each other in the states one of them could win, it would be better for Cruz if both Rubio and Kasich drop out.

Kahless is an important guy.

His people were probably in panic after he flip-flopped since the discrimination against American workers is much of the base of his support. For me having limits and ending the abuse is fine.

Overestimating the intelligence in a society based on mob democracy and media is a mistake. Things are just as stupid and plain as they seem, and the fact that so many people can't see the obvious is the measure of the lack of intelligence.

I agree...things are what they appear to be, don't read so much into it...projection of sorts.

Took this from apple site:

I thought Carson had a pretty good debate last night, though they could have tried to get him more speaking time.
