It is time for us to start demanding that the Sheriffs and Police Chiefs rein in their lose cannons and train them in Constitutional Rights, de-escalation and proper use of force. I will soon be posting a series of articles and interviews on this topic.
VegasPatriot,
At this point you, and people who think like you, are the single biggest impediment to progress with respect to policing in this country.
Police have existed in the USA since the 1840s.
The United States Constitution was ratified in 1788 and took effect on March 4, 1789.
Thus the Constitution existed a good 50 years prior to the formation of police, and continued to exist for the 175 years since.
Have police ever received training in constitutional rights?
Ever?
Have police ever not kicked in doors and murdered people who give them lip?
Ever?
The answer to both questions is clearly NO. Not if you're being honest.
When you assume that there's a way to fix this situation, you're assuming that they're not operating exactly as they have always been intended. The facts pile up so quickly against that assumption that I have no choice but to believe you're just not looking at them.
Whether you want to remain ignorant or not is your own deal. What I take exception to is people like you showing up and perpetuating the ignorant idea that there's a baby somewhere in this bathwater. You may as well be saying "Guys, I know there were some people running death camps, but the tenets of national socialism are still sound!"
When you state that training can fix this, you are adding a zero to the number of years we will continue to put up with this.
Well, they've had 175 years to train. If you don't think that was enough time, then fine, but stop undermining those of us who think it was.
