What stats are you seeing on this, Gunny?
There is a 5-7% remnant of >40 voters who mostly knew the score before Ron Paul and then maybe ~2-3% that have awakened or are in the process of awakening. The vast majority of >40's are ossified and refuse to budge in opinion for any one or any thing. If Jesus Christ Himself came down out of heaven to set them right, they would attack Him as a heretic. Then there is a ~5% remnant amongst the <40's who knew the score before Ron Paul, and then something like 15-20% who have awakened or are in the process of awakening. Another ~25% of the <40's are open to being reached if you can find the way in, and then around half of the under 40's think their opinion is the end-all-be-all measure of reality itself, and don't much care what anybody has to say.
I hate it as much as I can possibly hate it, but HOLLYWOOD and others are right. We have a real problem with elderly voters who are more fixed in their positions than the under 40's, and won't change their minds for anything. That's not to discount the over-40's who have been awake, are now awake, and are waking up. We are approaching 10% of that demographic, and then 25% of the under 40's. We have an upward potential of about 20% of the over 40's and 50% of the under 40's.
Then you have another problem. The 35-65 Demo per capita does 5-10 times the victory work of the 18-35's and the >65's. The >55's go to the polls like nobody else. So it's 3x harder to turn an >40 but when you do they will do 5x more work towards electoral victory than an <40. We have the potential to bring the <40's up to 50% but a majority of them will only do what they want to, and not what is actually required to win elections, and a lot of them will never bother to vote anyway.
So you end up with six of one half dozen of the other. Focus on the <40's and you can turn 20 people on to truth, but the most that most of them will do is poke on the Internet or hold signs, and they may not even go vote. Focus on the >40's and you only turn 6, but you know damn good and well those 6 will vote, and they will walk doors and go actively recruit others. It really ends up a wash, focusing on the over 40's is equally effective as focusing on the under 40's for completely different reasons.
It's
INSIDE THE PARTY MACHINE where the age disparity starts to make a real serious difference. There you ally with as many friendly >40's as you can, and there are more than people think, maybe 9%-12%, but the rest will not change their ways for anything, so the magic is in the <40's for intra-party activism. For people active inside the GOP, we have something like 70% of the 18-30's, and 50% of 31-40's. We can grow the hell out of them and basically walk into a power vacuum and start writing the rules and policies of the Republican Party, but for that to happen, the <40's
HAVE to start showing up, because the >40's are absurdly reliable. If 90% of the >40's (9-12% us) show, and only 20% of the <40's (~65% us) show, then the status quo wins every time, even if we are the actual majority.
We fix the liberty movement's apathy with working inside the GOP, and everything changes completely within 2 years. That would have us utterly dominating the GOP nationwide by 2015, just in time to nominate and elect Rand Paul.
