Romney won the 21st district, and he also squeaked by in the 42nd district after late returns from San Bernardino County came in.

Ron Paul beat Huckabee in the 8th district.

But maybe the best explanation for the numbers (which are pretty uniform across most districts) is that California Republicans are used to losing and are desperate to win. In early voting, McCain and Giuliani were the highest profile, "most electable" candidates. Call it Schwarzenegger Syndrome.

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN CRYING. I WAS AT THE OC REGISTRAR'S OFFICE AND THE VERY FIRST RESULTS THE DISPLAYED ON THE MONITORS FROM ONLY MAIL-IN BALLOTS WERE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE FINAL RESULTS OF THE NIGHT, AFTER ALL THE OTHER MEMORY CARDS WERE SUPPOSEDLY LOADED AND THE DATA 'UPDATED'. AND EVERY SINGLE COUNTY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 1 OR 2 ALL HAVE THE SAME RESULTS?!?!?!

They ranked the same, but it was hardly proportionate.

The one constant is that Paul was largely ignored, and McCain was largely dominant. Romney made a solid race out of it in some districts. Huck fluctuated, but within Paul's low numbers and Mitt/McCain's higher numbers.

Why is it so difficult to believe that most Californians feel roughly the same about all of the candidates?

Before you answer that question, consider:

In order for what we see to not actually be true, you have to assert that it's *more* believable that somebody actually, in between from when the votes were made to when they were reported, somehow rigged the results in such a way to purposely have each district come out in the fashion that he/she/they wanted, which would mean somebody, in the hours from when polling closed to the results coming in, was able to change the votes counted in each of the 53 districts to match eachother's rankings.

You have to then consider all of the thousands of vote-counters across the state, who haven't noticed anything divergent from what they counted being reported.

You then have to make the case that *this* scenario is actually more likely than the idea that people across California roughly view the candidates the same.

Good luck with that.

Meanwhile, the true crime in the California election, that many registered Republicans, both life-long and newly signed up, were listed at their polling locations erroneously as "decline to state" and in some cases had to vote provisionally, and in many cases, were not allowed to vote for the Republican ticket AT ALL. There are huge threads on freerepublic.com about it, anecdotal stories EVERYWHERE, it was a common experience across the state.

Yet, as is so often the case with Ron Paul supporters, the real problem is completely ignored in favor of some fantastic conspiracy theory. Even, in this case, by the state's campaign coordinator.

OK this is what I observed at the registrars in OC. There was a computer monitor for public viewing outside the little computer room where all the memory cards were loaded into the computers. After the mail-in ballots are scanned, the first results of the night are displayed. As memory cards start to come in, the results are "updated"... but like I said to my dismay, the numbers stay EXACTLY the same. It is VERY suspicious. From beginning through end, in every county in CA the numbers do not change. This is why I say it is pre-determined. Now lets talk about the computer room.

The computer room had maybe 6 workers whos only jobs were to stick the memory card into the computer, pull it out, and then mark the cards as read. That's ALL they did.

Then there is the "computer guy" - he's the shady one IMO. Have no idea wtf his job is but this guy is on a computer doing a bunch of stuff, always looking nervous, always looking around. He hands a flash drive back and forth with another "computer guy" who takes that flash drive out of the room.. they do this back and forth a few times. THAT RIGHT THERE is where the whole integrity of the process is destroyed.

My theory is that the percentages were pre-determined and fed via the flash drive. Why would they want to make the results look homogeneous throughout the entire state? To what end? So that people could freak out about the impossibility of it?

If all they want is a McCain win, then why not manipulate things so that your fears are put to rest (spikes for Huck, RP, in certain places, etc).

Do you see how this theory of yours is so, so, so much more of an unlikelyhood than the idea that the candidates' support across the state was fairly stable? Why are you so so willing to go through all of these leaps of logic and ignore the most probable answer?

Also, you ignored two important parts of my post.

1) Lots of the candidates' actual % was very volatile across the state, with differences of 15% or more. Just because there was SO much more support for McCain than for Paul or Huckabee, these spikes in support weren't enough to upset the ranking of preference. But just take a quick look - the % were not the same across the state, the rankings were (for the most part), with big fluctuations in actual %. Paul is the exception, he didn't have much support anywhere. That doesn't surprise me at all, unfortunately.

2) There WAS an actual, factual, verifiable problem with the votes in California, one you are completely ignoring because you are so eager to find a rigging conspiracy. MANY MANY registered Republicans (many of them lifelong Republicans) were told at the polling booth that they were listed as "decline to state" on the rolls. Some were then told they were unable to vote in the closed Rep. primary, and others were given provisional ballots, with no idea if their vote ever ended up counting. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM. But you are so fixated on this vote rigging conspiracy you ignore it.

It's sad. You (and our state campaign coordinator, I'm not just picking on you) are so eager to see a conspiracy that doesn't exist, you miss the real problem right in front of your face.

I ran across this article today, looks like most of the audience were republicans leaning toward Romney. But there is case after case of people who have been registered as republicans all their life, never even thought about switching parties. But when they arrived at their place of voting, they found that someone had switched their party. Since they were no longer registered specifically as a republican, they were not allowed to cast a republican vote!

Beyond the obvious shenanigans going on, are they mining that much information from us (via phone polls or our internet usage maybe?) that they can decide who they want to block from voting even before we vote? All the people on this blog sound like they were anti-McCain people.

For me it's the fairly consistent pattern of duplicate rankings accross almost all of the California congressional districts, beyond all reasonable probabilities, that raises my red warning flag. California is not THAT homogeneous.<IMHO>

Again, while the rankings remained pretty uniform, the actual percentages did not.

For instance, in the 53 districts McCain had anywhere between 36% and 51%. Romney had anywhere between 21% and 40%. Huck anywhere between 5% and 16%.

So nobody fixed those to be the same across the districts, clearly. There obviously is a lot of difference between the districts, some only liked Romney 20%, and in others had had DOUBLE the support, for instance.

However, the major statistic is that there were more McCain supporters in almost every district, Romney took a few.

And, I find that a very, very believable fact.

Meanwhile, KEEP IGNORING THE MANY MANY REPUBLICANS THAT WERE MISIDENTIFIED AT THE POLLS - you know, the real (not made up) problem.

I did... Holly Clearman is in denial, and citing her saying that it's "impossible" doesn't make it so, especially because, well, it happened.

I've seen zero evidence, just a lot of baseless assertions and panic.

If you want anybody to take what you are saying seriously, you need evidence. You can start by comparing this primary to similar primaries in California historically, and also compare it to polls taken that might show a different result than what happened.

I don't want you to "take my word" for what actually happened. If you are so concerned about how the vote went in California, go do some digging, talk to people, etc.

I have a feeling you don't want to do any of that work, just want to post about horrible conspiracies on the internet in your free time.

I do not trust anyone that badgers people for questioning vote integrity. Every single one of us votes and should be concerned with the integrity of the process.

Absolutely noone is sure the process is secure, even those that are a part of it. There are many links in the chain.

My point is, posts concerning the integrity should be taken seriously. We should all encourage facts and anecdotes concerning this. We should strive to coalesce this information in a logical and useful manner.

There are countless polling places across the nation, there is noone monitoring this process that can cover everything. Noone, no polling authority, not the official campaign, it's too big. The best chance of uncovering fraud is for those of us, the individuals there or involved or aware of other facts about the process, to come together and make sense of it all.

Anyone who badgers these accounts, or proclaims you are smearing Ron Paul's name by making allegations, are not to be trusted. If such fraud exists, those involved would be remiss to not attempt to squash such discussion.
