If we get that much I'm calling it a win, but if it is really only 135 there as some say.....

Honestly, if it falls in the 'fudge factor' I will believe it is ours. We just have to have preserved vote tallies going forward.

135 was a different caucus.

The only "135" figure I've seen is in reference to the total number of attendees at the morning Hancock caucus. I don't think there's been an estimate of RP supporters present in Washington yet.

If we have 65% support, we need to hope that turnout is more than 300 people, or that the remaining 35% are mostly santorum voters

Wait didn't we hear that there are over 300 there? So I'll be optimistic and say there's 350. I'll also be optimistic and say 70% are for Paul. 350 * .7 = 245.

But, then you have to subtract the Romney votes...

But there's the x factor (the Santorum supporters persuaded by caucus speeches). Does anyone present know if there have been any speeches urging them to vote for Ron Paul yet?

Santorum had double the support of Romney in my cell phone robopolling. So if Santorum and Romney are sharing the remaining 30%, that means Romney gets 10%, or 35.

350 people

this result would give these numbers
65% Paul = 228
19% Santorum
13% Romney = 46
8% Gingrich

that would bring our deficit to 48. (THESE ARE NOT REAL NUMBERS. just trying to understand the situation)

Will the results be announced tonight?

I know the Republican party of Iowa is going to decide on March 10 whether to includes the results in the final tally, but it doesn't really matter what they decide because we have the Internet... I'm assuming there will be some reporters present who can find out what the results are.

We still are waiting for the Eastbrook (Hancock County) results.

There are about an equal number of Paul and Romney campaign signs being waved around inside. #mepolitics

Meh, paid GOP'ers who aren't allowed to vote.

Yeah, WTF. I know most don't stick around for delegate selection, but not even bothering to vote in the straw poll is complete WTF, unless they were turned away for being ineligible.

Someone actually posted on here during the actual Maine Caucuses that a Ron Paul supporter walked away before voting. I honestly don't know wtf some people are thinking sometimes.

If that's the same story I remember reading, they were turned away because they didn't arrive on time to register Republican.

A big cheer as that total, 306 voters for Washington County, is announced. #MECaucus

Yeah, that makes no sense?

WHy would you go to a caucus, and then leave before the vote?

You didn't realize what a marathon it is. Perhaps another speech from another state rep candidate would make your head explode?

I learned here on Ronpaulforums.com that we, the grassroots, do what we ENJOY. I was arguing with someone here, last summer, about the merits of a particular plan. I don't remember exactly what it was about. I probably thought the idea was pointless or inefficient or harmful, or a creative mixture of all 3.

"But we enjoy doing that. You can't get volunteers to do what they don't enjoy."

And that "enjoy" attitude is right at the heart of the whole thing.

"You, volunteer, or "rogue volunteer", need to find a whole lot of voters real quick because there are not enough in this building for Ron Paul to win and you need to do it right now. Find them, and do whatever it takes to get them here."

"I enjoy sign waving. How about Sign Waving? I could argue with a Santorum supporter right here. It's warm. I like it here. How about I just stay and do nothing? Maybe I can stand behind the table and talk about Ron Paul?"

Point being, if we, strong grassroots supporters, can't do what we don't enjoy, imagine how someone who just "likes Ron Paul" and doesn't know what he's in for is going to react to 2! Full! Hours! of! Speeches!

Ron Paul is a Rockstar. These caucuses are a Glenn Miller cover band. I had trouble myself. I can imagine someone who has not dedicated so much time, money, whatever to Ron Paul is going to do when faced with a non stop barrage of boring don't care. They just don't care as much as we do. It's a continuum. It's not that Ron Paul supporters are that hardcore, on average, it's just that they don't like anybody but Paul. They don't have a second choice. 2nd choice is not figure out when the election is. Not running the gauntlet of speeches. I can imagine many many people not liking anything about those caucuses. But, some do. Around 1% of the population attends a Republican Caucus here in Maine. And that's fine. If the Maine GOP wants to reward the most dedicated, the most willing to withstand 2 hours of speeches, advantage Paul. We do endure this. Not all, apparently (or maybe that wasn't a Paul supporter), but more than the other candidates.

What we should do, if this is possible, is when we get control of a town committee, or whatever position or organization that decides where the caucus should be, change the time and venue to one that is most comfortable to our base. And offensive to their base. Set break at a Converge show.

I'd like to get a warm Knox County welcome for chaotic metalcore legends Converge. Converge will be taking a short break whenever they feel like it, and we'll have our preference poll and delegate vote after that. You're welcome to leave. Be sure you're back whenever Converge decides to take a break though, the voting will start immediately after.

Technically it's about 200 more than 2008, but with the whole damn state riding on one county, you'd think they could get more than 5% turnout. Just...sad.
