Maine Saturday Open Thread

The GOP really doesn't mind Obama winning, it will just ensure that they'll win in 2016 and he seems to be serving their interests just fine (war, the fed, patriot act, assassinations, detention w/o trial, inflation, etc)

If the GOP hates Obama so much, why do they want to replace him with a clone?

Im writing in RP.. I dont give a fuck... The GOP will learn the hard way

No... the people with the money who are controlling this chess game don't care. They don't care if it's Romney or Obama, so long as they hold all the cards it doesn't matter. No one will "learn". This is truly a fight for our freedom and we're losing.

Write-ins aren't usually counted and don't get much notice from parties. A 3rd party vote is a much more tangible loss to the GOP because it gets counted and gives them a percentage they can identify as having abandoned their party to vote 3rd party.

lots of places write ins are counted. But in any event with the delegates Ron has and upcoming states, it is no time to be focusing on back up plans.

If Ron doesnt run 3rd party, a write in is the next best option.. And im sure the GOP would be interested in exactly how many votes they lost by treating Ron like sh**, especially when they get mollywopped by Obama..

We needed a win before March 6th, that is the problem.....March 10th is too late!!! Almost half of the nation will have voted by then.

That is why winning Maine this week was soooo important, if not for anything else to get Ron just one State Win under his belt before Super Tuesday.

Perception is extremely important......it certainly is in the RP Nation, just look at the total donations thus far for the NOPB Money Bomb versus the Campaign Goal. Enough said....

But the grassroots had a few hundred of their own confirmed supporters identified on top of what the campaign had. If turnout is truly only 200-250, this represents a massive failure of supporters to follow through on what they promised just hours ago.

I'm pretty sure there was cross over, don't you think? If not.... I don't know the vote turn out rate for other candidates, so I can't say.

If your state counts write-ins sure, but not all of them do. A third party vote is a large voting block that is represented in all states and you know it will be counted. Write-in is definitely not the best option. It also makes us look like a cult of personality and not a voting block. We should rally behind a 3rd party liberty candidate, because we won't have Ron Paul in 2016 and we want to show that this is a block of voters that can be won over with the right message, not a movement that will disappear once Ron isn't running anymore.

Yes it is important but there are 617 delegates, I think, up between now and March 10. We can't let stewing over this one keep us from maximizing the next one.

yes it is in Washington county, but I'm sure ours aren't the only bolstered groups -- still that is a much more hopeful sign!

When will all the official numbers come in?

Well, I mean actual numbers?

Official can take weeks.

This 208 vote deficit, does that include correcting the towns that the Maine GOP is currently missing? Waldo County, etc.?

I'm just wondering if we pick up 170 in Washington county does that mean we've lost or that it could still go either way? I don't trust the Maine GOP to correctly count the votes they didn't count at all the first time though...
